“I Was Never a Victim”: Modern Family Star Sofia Vergara Debunked Claims Ellen DeGeneres Made Fun of Her Exotic Accent
Sofia Vergara cleared the air surrounding her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and what took place thereafter. Comedian Ellen DeGeneres, known for her sporty behavior, often finds herself in trouble for being a mean person. Despite numerous controversies, from questions about her character to allegations of having a toxic work environment, DeGeneres has come out stronger.
Well, she’s got celebrities by her side, and one of them is Sofia Vergara. When trolled for mocking the star’s exotic accent, Vergara herself came to the comedian’s rescue, debunking all such claims.
Sofia Vergara Defends Ellen DeGeneres
Ellen DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi is not the only lady who’s been defending her better half amid claims of all sorts. During her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Columbian beauty, Sofia Vergara came to the host’s defense against claims that Ellen DeGeneres mocked the Meet the Browns actress for her “exotic accent”. As the show wrapped up in 2021, Sofia Vergara became the last star to defend the host.

Vergara, best known for her role as Gloria in Modern Family, has been a frequent guest on the Emmy-winning comedian’s show. Every time she appeared her time on this show was accompanied by a lot of banter, including jokes about her accent. Well, Vergara being the sport that she is, debunked all claims that DeGeneres never offended her in any manner.
In 2020, when clips of DeGeneres mocking the star’s accent resurfaced, many critics referred to the host as mean. But Vergara feels differently. Coming to her defense, Vergara tweeted: “Two comedians having fun with each other to entertain, I was never a victim guys, I was always in on the joke.” Not only this, Vergara even returned back to her show in 2021.

Why Did Ellen DeGeneres End Her Long-Running Show?
A lot of hearts broke when DeGeneres announced in 2021 that she would be ending The Ellen DeGeneres Show after 19 seasons. During an interview, she described how a 2020 controversy left her “destroyed”. An emotional DeGeneres described the decision as an emotional experience by stating:
“I’m glad that before it leaked, I got to tell my staff and my crew, from my own words – that they didn’t hear it anyplace else. Because I haven’t been sleeping. I’ve been trying to, you know, anticipate how to tell them and, you know, hope that everybody would take it okay. A lot of people were very emotional. I got emotional.”
“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t and it makes me really sad that there’s so much joy out there from negativity. It’s a culture now where there are just mean people, and it’s so foreign to me that people get joy out of that.”

In 2020, Ellen DeGeneres’ show was investigated for being “a hostile workplace and for alleged workplace harassment of staff.” The step came after a series of former employees exposed their cases on social media. When asked, “If she felt like she was being canceled?” the comedian stated that the hate she received felt “too orchestrated”. No matter what went down, the show will be missed!
