“If that’s what she does to get publicity”: Salma Hayek Was Humiliated After Jennifer Lopez Demeaned Her for Only Playing “S*xy Bombshell” Roles in Films
Jennifer Lopez is a global icon and a triple threat as a performer, excelling as a singer, dancer, and actor — but that doesn’t mean she’s always polite. Throughout her lengthy career, the Grammy winner has regularly created controversy by criticizing celebrities ranging from Gwyneth Paltrow to Madonna. The American actress, and singer, is regarded as a pop culture phenomenon and is sometimes referred to as a triple-threat performer.
If You Had My Love, I’m Real, Ain’t It Funny, All I Have, and On the Floor are among her most hit singles. She’s also been in the news for a few scandals. Lopez has a tremendous fan base that will go to any length to support her. The actress-singer was previously critical of numerous other actresses, notably Salma Hayek. In contrast, the Mexican actress never replied to what JLo said in an interview.
Jennifer Lopez Accused Salma Hayek Of Lying About A Role
Lopez has a large fan following who follows her every move and defends her at all costs. The actress-singer previously disparaged several other actresses, including Salma Hayek. The Mexican actress, on the other hand, never responded to what JLo stated during an interview. Jennifer Lopez spoke to Movieline in 1998 and offered her thoughts on many women.
She was especially scathing of Salma Hayek, who reportedly stated she was given the main role in 1997’s Selena over Lopez but declined. According to the New York Post, JLo stated,
“We’re in two different realms.” She’s a s*xy bombshell who plays these kind of roles. I do a wide range of activities. It makes me giggle when she says she was offered the name “Selena,” which was a complete fake. If that’s what she needs to do to seek attention, then so be it.”
Jennifer Lopez said she was Misquoted during the interview.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she stated,
“I was so misquoted and so taken out of context, and it’s a sore subject for me.” I don’t enjoy hurting others. I don’t want to upset their feelings. I enjoy making jokes, therefore I do so on occasion. What they wrote in that article harmed individuals. Lopez said, “It gave me a lot of notoriety at the time, and then it made a lot of people in the industry really pissed off.”
Jennifer Lopez has stated that she was “misquoted” in an interview three years ago, causing her to cry for hours after reading it. In the interview, she expressed her discomfort with the topic, saying that she doesn’t like to hurt anyone’s feelings and that what was written in the article had hurt some people in the industry. Lopez now regrets her words and didn’t realize the impact her words could have on others.
