Emma Watson, a star known for her character Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter movie series, reached the height of her fame in her adolescence. However, despite all the success, stars are sometimes not satisfied with what they have. Similar is the case with the popular actress, who stepped away from the limelight recently.

It’s not new for a star to take a break from their career. With Watson, it’s the same, and according to reports, she seemed to have swapped Hogwarts, the magic school, with Oxford, where she enrolled for the part-time degree course for Creative Writing. Taking on this course might mean she’s been up to a new path, and who knows, she might emerge as a shining star as a writer, too.

Emma Watson Might Be Switching Careers

Commenting on taking a break from acting, Emma Watson said she loves what she does. Her taking the break is like finding a way of doing it where she doesn’t have to fracture herself in different faces and people.

In an interview about her gin brand, the 33-year-old actor told the Financial Times

“I think I felt a bit caged. The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over. To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?’ It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process.”

As per Watson, she felt quite confined because of the need to front the projects on something she had no sizable creative input. She expressed her distress about it in the aforementioned interview with the Financial Times, saying that if someone was going to judge her for doing something, then she wanted to be the one who had chosen to do that thing.

Joining the creative writing course at Oxford might be a chance for her to be more in words for her roles where she can bring in creative inputs. As for returning to acting, in 2017, she told the Vanity Fair:

“Yes, absolutely. But I’m happy to sit and wait for the next right thing. I love what I do. It’s finding a way to do it where I don’t have to fracture myself into different faces and people. And I just don’t want to switch to robot mode anymore. Does that make sense?”

Considering her words, saying that she’s leaving behind her acting career wouldn’t be right. The actor just needs time for herself to become a better version, and there’s nothing wrong with it. If she feels there’s a need for improvement, there surely is, and her creative writing course will give her a chance to be more than where she stands today. Growing up in the limelight, especially in one’s developmental years can be very hard on actors so it’s only fair that Watson’s fans support her decision.
