“It terrifies me, fills me with dread”: Adele Falls Back to Therapy After Traumatizing Divorce, Wants to Bounce Back into Singing Career Again
English singer Adele is one of the most successful artists of the 2010s decade, however, her relationship has left a huge impact on her. Her relationship with her former husband, Simon Konecki ended in 2019 with the singer moving on in her life with Rich Paul. In a recent performance of Weekends With Adele, the singer opened up about going for therapy after her traumatizing divorce.
The 34-year-old singer opened up about her mental health and stated how she started making her mental well-being a priority, further sharing her thoughts on her musical career.
Adele Gets Candid About Her Mental Health
During her Friday night performance as part of her Weekends with Adele residency in Las Vegas, the singer shared that she started going for therapy sessions again.
Adele told the audience,
“I started having therapy again, right? Cuz I went a few years not having it.”
She further explained that she started therapy when she divorced her husband, Simon Konecki in 2019. The ex-pair first met in 2011. They got married in 2018 sharing a son Angelo however their marriage did not go well with their divorce finalized last year.
She shared,
“Before, obviously, when I was going through my divorce, I was like, basically in like five therapy sessions a day.”
She further stated that she “stopped holding myself accountable for my own behavior.” She continued, “And it’s ‘cuz I could always fall back on my therapist and be like ‘The reason you did that is because when you were 10 this happened.’”
Though she eventually saw her mental well-being in a different light which helped her in taking the therapy lessons again.

The singer-songwriter in her recent concert residency opened up about having to bring out her best self to give the best performance possible in front of her audience. Which is why she started her therapy sessions once again.
“But now I am doing it because I just want to make sure I’m topping myself up every week to make sure I can give you everything.”
About her music, she stated,
“I love making music, but there is something about performing live that actually terrifies me and fills me with dread normally.”
Even though she explained she’s not a “touring artist,” she would love to have the experience she’s getting from her recent Las Vegas residency.
“That’s why I am not a big touring artist. I did it last time to prove I could do it. But this experience of being in a room this size, I think I might be a live artist for the rest of my life.”
After acknowledging the fact that she often gets pressured, she decided to manifest the support she’s been receiving from her weekend shows. “I’m the happiest I’ve ever, ever, ever been.”
Weekends with Adele, which is being held at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, will continue until 25 March 2023.
