In a previous interview, while promoting his film, Star Wars Driver was asked whether he enjoyed his trip to a Comic-Con fan event in San Diego.
He said,
“I didn’t know the rules of Comic-Con. I got in at the hotel at 2 in the morning… and I’m like, maybe tomorrow I’ll go get a coffee. And they’re like, ‘Oh no, you can’t get a coffee.’ I’m like, ‘Well, maybe I’ll get a coffee in the hotel.’ They’re like, ‘No, you can’t get a coffee in the hotel.”
The House of Gucci actor then explains that he was asked to wear either an Iron Man mask or a Darth Vader mask to leave his hotel room after staying there for 24 hours. The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Star shared,
“They’re like, ‘If you want to go outside, put a mask on so nobody knows who you are. I opened my window because I’d been in the room for 24 hours before this thing we were supposed to do, and then there was a band at the bottom of the building playing the Star Wars theme on repeat, because [the cast was] all staying in the hotel. It was scary … I saw what it was.”
He added,
“I mean, it’s nice. I’m not anxious to go again.”
65, starring Driver, was released in theatres on January 20, 2023, and is now streaming on Prime Video.
The Star Wars Star Shared His Experience Working On 65
While discussing his newly released sci-fi movie Driver explains what drew him to the movie when he first read the script of 65. The Marriage Story star told Collider,
“Well that it was so unique and that it was a big blend of a lot of different things. It was dinosaurs, laser guns, and spaceships crashing, and it didn’t seem somewhat rare to get asked to do that, but that also is kind of ancillary to it being a movie that is really kind of a father-daughter movie.”

He continued,
“Anytime there’s a big-scale movie, big-scale family movie that everyone can go to that doesn’t let the spectacle get in the way of two characters that hopefully are three-dimensional, and it was about grief. I got it in the first thrust of COVID, and as I’m sure many people did, were obviously making the connections of what was going on in the world.”
Driver’s horrible experience at the comic convention gave him a bad impression of fans. The inconvenience and irritation he had to suffer at that time were truly unfortunate. Being locked up and suffocated in his hotel room and losing his freedom was something that he might not forget soon.
