He has been the face of the character ever since its inception in the early 2000s. It is next to impossible to imagine someone else donning the long brown pirate coat and tricorn hat.
After the fifth chapter, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, there has been no update on the billion-dollar franchise. It has been speculated that Johnny Depp has already turned his back on the franchise door.
Actor Orlando Bloom On Johnny Depp’s Return As Jack Sparrow In Pirates Of The Caribbean
After the release of the fifth installment of the Johnny Depp-led adventure drama franchise in 2017, the future of the series lies in uncertainty. Seven years down the line, there have been no talks about any upcoming chapter. The fans are left in the dark as one of the main leads Johnny Depp’s personal and professional life was shrouded with uncertainty due to the much-hyped defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Orlando Bloom, who played the character of Will Turner in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, spoke to the media outlet Parade and mentioned the franchise and making a comeback too. The Carnival Row actor said-
I think Will. I mean Will’s so great. I wouldn’t mind seeing what Will looked like today in some ways. He was such an earnest guy. But after rumbling around the bottom of the ocean for as long as he would have done at this point, it’d be interesting to see how he surfaces and what he’s like.”
The Back Hawk Down actor even revealed his favorite franchise between The Lord Of The Rings and Pirates Of The Caribbean at his household. He mentioned-
“Well, my son [Flynn] is of age to watch some of that stuff now. I think Lord of the Rings was something that we watched. I watched some of that early on with him and I know he enjoyed it, but Pirates is such great, fun entertainment, and he’s got some little half-cousins who love that. I’m very lucky to be a part of these. I think of Carnival Row just like those movies.”

Johnny Deep On Making A Comeback With Jeanne du Barry
After the much-publicized defamation drama of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory actor’s acting career had taken a backseat. He made a comeback with a French movie named Jeanne Du Barry at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival in May almost after a year. Johnny Depp was welcomed with a sea of his fans and followers at the prestigious film festival. He was almost teary-eyed at the standing ovation that lasted for about 7 minutes.
While talking about the term comeback being associated with him, the actor said-
“I keep wondering about the word ‘comeback’ because I didn’t go anywhere. As a matter of fact, I live about 45 minutes away. So yeah, maybe people stopped calling out whatever their fear was at the time. But no, I didn’t go anywhere. I’ve been sitting around, so come back…?”
He further continued as-
“It’s almost like I’m going to come out and do a tap dance or some kind of spectacular feat on the table and dance my best for you guys, and hope that you will approve. The notion of something like that is a bizarre mystery.”
Johnny Depp portrayed the character of King Louis XV alongside the actor-director and producer Maïwenn, who went on play the titular role in the critically acclaimed movie Jeanne Du Barry.
