Recently, Francia Raisa opened up about her experience with organ donation. While talking to the reputed media outlet OK! Magazine, Raisa revealed that she was extremely scared to donate her kidney to her best friend Selena Gomez. She said-

“It is not a crazy thing to do. Was I hesitant? Was I scared? Absolutely. It’s a major organ, but I’ve said this so many times that the minute I learned of the situation and knew I was a match, it was this divine sign and feeling I got.”

She further confessed-

“It was scary as h—, and it’s a mental thing, but I was always confident about it. The day of the surgery I was probably the calmest I’d ever been the entire time. I was like, ‘Let’s go!'”

Francia Raisa donated her kidney to Selena Gomez in 2017 and looks forward to educating people on the significance of organ donation. Lupus is a disease that occurs when your body’s immune system starts attacking your own organs and tissues. It affects the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, heart lungs, and blood cells.

Organ donation is one of the biggest contributions one can make towards the betterment and welfare of humankind. American actor Francia Raisa spoke about the importance of educating people about organ donation. The Grown-ish actor said-

“I want to educate people, and as someone who is a living donor, I can say, ‘Hey, it’s not that crazy of a thing to do!’ As long as you exercise, eat healthy, drink water — that’s all I have to do, and I am fine. It’s cool to hear people say I have a platform because I’ve had the worst imposter syndrome known to man.”

While talking about being a role model to her fans, Raisa further said-

“I mean, we all do, let’s be honest, but I am at the place where I can hear stuff like this and be like, ‘You’re right.’ I haven’t done a number one movie yet or achieved some of my acting dreams, but my fans hear me and they see me as more than just an actress. I’m a role model to a lot, and I didn’t see that or understand that for a while. Now I’m like, ‘Alright, I’m in.’ It’s super important and cool. I’m ready for the job.”

Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa met each other in 2007 during a charity function at a children’s hospital.
