‘It’s an ugly thing to say’: Ben Affleck Hailed as People’s Champion, Blasted Bill Maher, Sam Harris for Saying Islamophobia is Not a Real Thing
American actor-filmmaker Ben Affleck once garnered extreme attention when he got involved in a heated debate with the author Sam Harris over the topic of religion and radicalism a few years ago. The 50-year-old actor totally blasted the host of the television show Real Time With Bill Maher for his ideology on the Muslim community.
Ben Affleck Voiced His Opinion on US Talk Show Over Religion
The 50-year-old actor back in 2014 was promoting his then-latest movie Gone Girl on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher where he was in a panel discussion on current affairs with fellow guest Sam Harris and Bill Maher. As the discussion went ahead, the host and fellow guest Harris started discussing the radical elements of the religion which made the actor furious and stated his opinion by blasting at both of them.
The duo started discussing that something was not right with the Islamic culture, emphasizing its mistreatment of homosexuals and women which according to him was conducted by the Islamic State. The philosopher argued by stating, “Liberals have failed on the topic of theocracy, We can criticize Christians … but when you want to talk about the treatment of women, homosexuals, and free thinkers in the Muslim world, liberals have failed us. … We’ve been sold on this meme of Islamophobia.”
The actor interrupted him by stating, “Hold on — are you the person who officially understands the codified doctrine of Islam?” While the author was saying that he was “actually well-educated” on the topic, Affleck chimed in and stated, “I’m asking you, so you’re saying Islamophobia isn’t a real thing?”

Ben Affleck thinks that Sam Harris' views on Islam are "dangerous" and could result in violence against Muslims. Maybe he should be cancelled too. Or maybe he should think about who determines what is and isn't "dangerous."https://t.co/R8ioropfZM https://t.co/zAKVET70ub
