Ridley Scott’s acclamation on director Fede Álvarez’s work in this thriller is what has earned attention as the director makes it clear that the upcoming Alien installment is infallible!
Ridley Scott’s Candid Review on The Upcoming Alien Movie
The upcoming ninth installment in the Alien franchise will prove to be a magnet for Alien fans. This is what has come from one of the finest directors in the science-fiction genre and the original 1979 Alien movie creator Ridley Scott who has already witnessed the suspenseful epic.
Fede Álvarez who’s the director and co-writer in this project was initially nervous about showing his “director cut” to Scott. However, when he did, it was an unexpected and unforgettable review from the Prometheus director. While speaking with fellow filmmaker Guillermo del Toro at the DGA Latino Summit, Álvarez recalled:
“And then he walks into the room and he did say, ‘Fede, what can I say? It’s fucking great.’… My family knows it was one of the best moments of my life to have a master like him, [who] I admired so much, to even watch a movie I made, granted, but particularly with something like this, that he would recognize it and talk to me for an hour about what he liked about it. One of the best compliments he said was, ‘The dialogue is great. Are you the writer?’ Yes!”
Antithetical to Fede Álvarez’s concerns, Scott offered him an unreserved commendation that the director didn’t expect. Ridley Scott was amazed to see Álvarez’s work in the new Alien movie and his unfiltered opinion assured that it is indeed a masterpiece fans will witness.
Another aspect that the Blade Runner director appreciated in Álvarez’s film was the dialogue. Scott had a long conversation with the director and co-writer about what he liked in the film and lauded him for creating an incredible film to keep up with the level of thrill Scott created by the iconic design of the diabolical Xenomorphs.
When Will This New Alien Movie Release
Initially, the upcoming movie which was previously titled Alien: Romulus (which might change) was set to stream exclusively on Hulu but couldn’t happen and this was shifted to a theatrical release in June 2023.
The exact storyline has been kept underground to maintain fans’ excitement, however, what we do know is that this new thriller will include a group of young people encountering horrifying extraterrestrial Alien life forms in a distant world.
The new Alien movie’s cast includes Cailee Spaeny, Isabella Merced, David Johnson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu, whose characters aren’t disclosed yet, and the film is set to hit theaters on August 16, 2024.
