The Baywatch actor Jason Momoa became a part of DC’s Aquaman team in 2018. He played the titular role in Aquaman. He was appreciated for his performance and went on to have a great fan following around the world. Recently the trailer of the sequel Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom was released. It received positive feedback from the fans and amassed a million views as soon as the trailer was dropped on Youtube.
The 43-year-old actor was overwhelmed by the positive reviews on the trailer of his upcoming movie Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom. During an interview with the Men’s Health magazine, the actor expressed-
“Well, to be perfectly honest, I was absolutely baffled that Aquaman was received so well,” he said.
On discussing how he lands up with his projects, the Fast X actor revealed-
“I’ve done things that are amazing that no one sees and no one gives a s*** about. You just don’t know in this business.”
He added-
“Oh, I’m gonna get US$1 billion on this one, I do my best job, It’s not that I don’t care about Aquaman; it’s a wonderful character.”
As someone who considers himself an aging superstar, Jason Momoa feels proud about his association with the Aquaman series. The American actor went on to say-
“Aquaman is probably the hardest character in comic-book history. But “he’s made fun of and ridiculed, but I tried to give it heart and soul, and I’m proud of it in certain ways.
Jason Momoa also owns a production house named Pride Of Gypsies Production Company. He is not only a great actor but also loves to be a part of the direction and production of his projects. On talking about his dream of being a director, the actor confessed that he and his partner had written the first treatment of the movie and it was bought by Warner Bros. The actor said-
“That’s the reason why I love directing and creating”, he said. “I love being able to burn for what I believe in”.
Jason Momoa’s addition to the Fast And Furious Family created waves in the tinsel town after the trailer release of Fast X. His look and the character played by him have been well-appreciated by his fans globally.
Jason Momoa’s Co-star Amber Heard’s Role And Pay Was Tweaked
After the much-publicized divorce and defamation trial of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, the Never Back Down actor’s career took a setback. The jury announced the verdict of the defamation case in favor of the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory actor. According to the rumors, Amber Heard was also about to be dropped from the DC franchise Aquaman. As the sequel Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom was almost completed, the production house and as well as the directors did not want to take a risk.
Due to the clamor around the casting of The Rum Diary actor, Amber Heard’s role of Mera, who plays the wife of the DC superhero Aquaman was tweaked and even suffered a meteoric pay cut.
According to the series of speculations, it was rumored that Emilia Clarke would be replacing Amber Heard in Aquaman. While the Game Of Thrones actor was offered $3 million for the titular role, Johnny Depp’s ex-wife was paid only $1 million for her role in Aquaman. However, for the sequel Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom Jason Moma was paid $15 million, whereas her female counterpart Amber Heard was offered only $2 million for her reduced role. This comes down to only 13% of her male co-star’s earnings.
The sequel Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom will hit the theatres on December 20. 2023.
