The actor recently wrote a book named Soul Boom: Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution, in which he talks about how embracing spirituality can help people deal with today’s challenges, such as racism, sexism, materialism, and climate change.
The Office star said he was raised in a spiritually-enriching environment. He confessed to being a member of the Baha’i faith. When he moved to New York City at age 20 to pursue a career in acting, he left the religious stuff behind. But the decision resulted in a mental health crisis for Wilson, so he spent many years reading all the holy books of all the major religions.
The Rocker star has embarked on a meaningful quest to learn what makes him genuinely happy. He admitted that when working on The Office he struggled with this issue.
Wilson revealed that while working on the sitcom and starting his company SoulPancake, he dove deep into spirituality. He confessed to getting into acting and comedy for buying a house. The 57-year-old said, “But it’s been really gratifying. And as I’ve moved along in my life and gained a little bit more wisdom, I realized that to act in grace, to act in divine light is something that we all do more of.”
Wilson revealed that he feels as though he is on a mission of service and that each person has been endowed with certain talents that they may use to improve the world.

During his time at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, Wilson revealed the motive behind writing the book Soul Boom: Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution. He said,
“Spirituality has helped me on my mental health journey, but I also feel like culturally we’re not engaging in deep enough, relevant enough conversations about how we can use spiritual tools to transform ourselves and make our lives better but also help transform society.”
The Office star confessed how faith-based conversations are essential in his life, and people need Spiritual tools. The actor added,
“We are in the biggest mental health crisis in human history, that’s killing young people. There are spiritual solutions, spiritual tools that we can learn from all of the great faith traditions of the world. We need them. It’s vital. It’s important.”
The writer revealed he was skeptical to openly talk about spirituality because he feared it will impact his acting career, as actors don’t often open up about such stuff.
