Jada Pinkett Smith Responded to Rumors That Her Husband Will Smith is Gay
Jada Pinkett Smith’s 26-year marriage with Will Smith has been in the limelight for the past couple of months due to the mind-boggling revelations that she has made about their relationship. Just when things were starting to get better for Will Smith after he infamously slapped comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, Pinkett Smith’s disclosures are spelling trouble for the superstar yet again.
Not so long ago Jada Pinkett Smith said that she had been separated from her husband since 2016, but the public came to know about it just last month. As the tradition goes, people started making up rumors about the power couple as soon as these things about their relationship started coming out. One of these rumors was that Will Smith was gay.
Jada Pinkett Smith Denied Rumors about Her Husband Being Gay
As of recent, Jada Pinkett Smith has been appearing in many interviews to promote her new memoir Worthy. Even after the release of the memoir, she does not seem to be quite done with the limelight. In an interview with Today, the host Hoda Kotb discussed various topics with the Madagascar actress.
One of these topics was Pinkett Smith’s extramarital affair with singer August Alsina, which was confirmed by the Scream 2 actress and her husband during an episode of the Red Table Talk show. They also discussed why Jada Pinkett Smith never had a romantic relationship with late rapper Tupac Shakur.
Hoda Kotb then brought up the rumor that both Will Smith and his wife were gay. When asked if she was bothered by any of it or if there was any truth in those rumors, The Matrix Reloaded actress said:
“No. You know, that’s part of it. I would say that none of that’s true. I definitely can understand why there’d be misunderstandings. But none of it’s true.”
Considering that Smith does not shy away from revealing personal details about herself or her relationships, there is no reason to doubt her answer. However, this is not the first time that she or her husband have been called gay.
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith Have Been Accused of Being Gay Before
One of the foremost reasons why Will Smith and his wife of 26 years have been accused of being closeted gays for years is because in an interview with HuffPost, instead of outrightly denying the rumors of being in an open relationship, Jada Pinkett Smith said that her husband was his own and he could be whoever he wanted.
That same year, actress Alexis Arquette accused Will Smith of paying his first wife so that she would not reveal that he was secretly having gay s*x. In a now-deleted Facebook post (via Page Six), Arquette wrote:
“When Jada comes out as gay and her beard husband admits his first marriage ended when she walked in to him … servicing his Sugar Daddy Benny Medina … then I will listen to them.”
However, soon, Will Smith’s first wife took to her own Facebook account to clap back at Arquette’s accusations that the Kind Richard actor was gay. She even clarified that the reason for their divorce was not infidelity of any kind.
