“Just tell me I’m overacting”: Ben Affleck Told “You S*ck” to Oscar Winner Matt Damon While Directing His Movie

The actor is part of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, Oppenheimer, which has created a buzz among the fans. Damon recently sat down with Willie Geist for an interview. During their chat, the 52-year-old revealed his bond with his best buddy, Ben Affleck.
The screenwriter got candid about being directed by Affleck for Air. He compared it with his latest director, Christopher Nolan. The Good Will Hunting star said,
“Great directors really give you the freedom … it’s a collaboration, it’s a partnership. You’re kind of attacking a problem together and you’re bringing your ideas, and if [a director is] good, they’re receptive to [those ideas].”
Speaking about the Batman star directing him and criticizing his acting, the actor added,
“What’s really great is there’s no diplomacy. You can waste so much time by trying to be polite. In the movie business and in theater, they’ve developed a whole vocabulary for how to talk to somebody — basically, how to tell somebody they’re sucking.”
Revealing more about getting coaching by his best buddy, who told Damon “You S*ck”, The Martian star said,
“Which is really a gift because you get through the bulls— faster and you go, ‘How do we fix it? Just tell me I’ve overacting, you know what I mean?”
Air marked the first time the Gone Girl star has directed Matt Damon in a feature film. The duo have been friends for many years, so their familiarity makes it much simpler to be critical. After 1997’s Good Will Hunting, Damon and Affleck became well-known figures. They both acted in the picture, which they also co-wrote, and received an Academy Award for best original screenplay.
