Recently, Chris Messina and the actress co-starred in the American comedy-thriller series Based on a True Story, which was created by Craig Rosenberg. The actress was acclaimed for her acting when the play debuted, and the crowd responded favorably which added some fortune to her $100 million net worth. There has recently been a show update. Let’s find out.
Kaley Cuoco, starring in Based on a True Story, gets renewed for Season 2
According to a report by Digital Spy, Kaley Cuoco’s dark comedy thriller show Based on a True Story has been renewed for a second season on Peacock. It first premiered on Peacock in June and the actress stars as Ava Bartlett, a pregnant real estate agent passionate about true crime, along with actor Chris Messina, who stars as her husband Nathan.
The couple cross paths with an infamous serial killer in Los Angeles and Ava hits on the idea of trying to make a podcast with the killer as a way out of their rut. The eight-episode season was loosely inspired by a true story and back in June, during a conversation with USA Today, the actress shared that the tightrope walk is something she feels she is good at.
Kaley added, “Riding the wave of comedy and terror and fear and jokes and all the things mixed in − sadness. It had everything, and that’s what I love.” In talking about her experience on the show, she said,
“I remember one of our producers and our showrunner was like, ‘You need to eat more.’ … And I was like, ‘I have never heard that before!’ So I’m like, ‘Sure! Happy to!’ It was freeing.” The actress was real-life pregnant with her first child with partner Tom Pelphrey and they welcomed their daughter in March, stated during the interview;
“You’ve seen every part of my life − good and bad − in front of everyone. And so it was kind of cool to show this too. Why not? Why not just own it and wear short shirts and let my stomach hang out? I did the swimsuit scene, and I did all these different things, and it felt right.”
Kaley said that she is very proud of it, and hopes it inspires other women to be like that it’s okay, and they can still do it all.
Kaley Cuoco avoided filming intimate scenes on Based on a True Story
The actress who will once again step into the shoes of Ava said at the time that she is past filming intimate scenes on-screen, which is why a body double who wore belly prosthetics stepped in her place to film those scenes. She revealed in her interview with USA Today,
“We don’t have to do those things anymore. We can have someone else do it, and we can fake our way through. You think that Chris Messina played tennis? Please! He was terrible! That’s his double.”
The Flight Attendant actress did not forget to appreciate her body double as mentioned in the interview,
“I had to be on my feet a lot. It was a lot. And by the end, I was nine months pregnant. So the fight scene at the end nears the grave − the fantasy − a lot of that was done by my double because it was like I was literally about to give birth, like any second.”
She said that she is thankful to her body double for being there for her.

Chris Messina appreciated Kaley Cuoco for her acting
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, back in June, Chris Messina, who stars as Nathan, a tennis player mourning his field career and husband of Ava on the show court appreciated the actress for her acting when asked what he learned from her.
He said,
“She has such ease with her acting. So one of the things I tried to steal every day and then will try to steal on other projects moving forward is her ability to just pop right into the moment. And she’s got a great bulls**t detector, so she knows if something on the page or something that I’m doing or something in the scene just doesn’t feel right or real. And so I guess if I was to distill it, it would just be getting to a real childlike quality sense of play.”
The actor said that he really got interested in being a part of Based on a True Story because of the opportunity to work with Kaley Cuoco. Then he read the script and he loved the idea of two people who had fallen so far apart yet they chose the craziest, darkest and most twisted way to find their way back to each other.
Based on a True Story, it is available to stream via Peacock
