Keanu Reeves Replaced in Fast X: Why Did Jeff Kirschenbaum Change His Mind About the John Wick Star?

Keanu Reeves is one Hollywood star that has been chosen more than one time to take part in the Fast and Furious film series. Once he was in talks to join the Hobbs and Shaw installment of the series. And recently it came to light that he had been chosen to play the character of Aimes. But the role went to Alan Ritchson who revealed recently that he almost thought he had lost his role to the John Wick star.

But somehow the original plan did not work out and while shooting for another film, Ritchson received the good news about calling him for his role.

Alan Ritchson’s Fast X Role Almost Went To Keanu Reeves

In the latest installment of the Fast and Furious series, viewers got to watch Alan Ritchson in a negative role named Aimes who works with the psychopathic Dante Reyes(Jason Momoa). However, the role of Aimes was not originally intended to be played by Ritchson.

The Titans star recently revealed that Keanu Reeves had been the first and original choice for the character. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, he said,

“It was just a little stroke of luck and good timing,” 

According to the actor, this occurred while he was filming in Winnipeg for another project. After Justin Lin left as the director, Ritchson admitted to feeling the same dread that he might also lose out on his role again. However, yet another call from producer Kirschenbaum assured that he was the final choice for Aimes in Fast X.

But this was not the first time that Reeves was in talks about joining the Fast and Furious film series. According to the film’s writer the John Wick star was also in talks about playing the role of a villain representing the Eteon organization in Hobbs and Shaw. But this one also did not end up going to the actor. As far as it is concerned, it can be said that Reeves has grazed the opportunity to be a part of the Fast and Furious series.

A Little Glimpse at Fast X

The latest installment in the Fast and Furious series titled Fast X is as the name suggests the 10th in the whole series. Although if Fast and Furious: Hobbs and Shaw (spinoff) is to be taken into account, the movie can be considered as the 11th installment.

The story is a sequel to F9 and as always revolves around Dom Torreto( Vin Diesel) and his family’s fight against the bad guys who are out to destroy the peace. This time the antagonist is a sociopathic guy named Dante Reyes played by Jason Momoa.
