“That’s not how I’m raising you. We don’t quit just”: Kelly Ripa Was Forced To Confront Her Daughter After She Was Asked To Quit Her Job
Kelly Ripa has had quite a spectacular career as a co-host on the ABC daytime talk show Live. But the journey hasn’t always been a smooth one. The 52-year-old recently ventured into a new field as well – in the role of an author whose first book was published earlier this year. Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories is a memoir of several key moments from Ripa’s life, some comic, some romantic, and some simple life lessons that she wanted to share along the way with the world. And her daughter, Lola Consuelos had quite a reaction to a specific anecdote about Ripa’s run on Live.
A hard phase in Kelly Ripa’s two-decade-long stint at Live
When Kelly Ripa joined Live in 2001, it was alongside Regis Philbin who stayed on as the main host till November 2011. Michael Strahan then hopped on and was Ripa’s co-host for four years, after Philbin left.
Everything was smooth on the surface until the former NFL player announced his sudden departure from the show. Not only was Strahan leaving Live, but he was also getting promoted to working full-time on Good Morning America. And the worst part about the whole thing was that the All My Children alum was reportedly “furious” that she was the “last to hear” about everything that went down.
Kelly Ripa was reportedly “blindsided” when Michael Strahan quit Live
As per reports, the Generation Gap host was informed of Strahan’s leaving right before the news was made public. A fairly shocked Ripa failed to show up for work the next day. She was also reportedly furious at the ABC executives and felt “blindsided” by the revelation. The producers got into panic mode thinking that Ripa had decided to quit in the aftermath of their gatekeeping. But she did return and addressed a live audience after holding her quiet for four whole days, and the producers heaved a sigh of relief.
While Ripa’s publicist claimed that her absence was nothing more than a previously scheduled vacation, the woman herself did admit later on,
“I needed a couple of days to gather my thoughts… [I] gained some perspective.”
And she also congratulated her former co-host, bidding a befitting adieu to her on-screen work partner of four years.
Lola Consuelos questioned her mother’s tenacity
Ripa has reminisced about this hard phase of her life in her memoir and a few months ago, she revealed her daughter, Lola Consuelos’ reaction to this episode in her life. In a conversation with Daily Mail, Ripa revealed,
