Kevin Feige On Whether Secret Wars Is The Next Major MCU Crossover
Secret Wars is destined to be the next big event thing according to all the theories going around. And now, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige responded to the rumours on the giant- crossover from the comic books is the next event which will unite all the heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse after the Avengers Infinity Saga.
Phase 4 of the MCU unleased the Multiverse in the first season finale of Loki revealing He Who Remains as one of the time- keeping variant of Kang the Conqueror who ended a Multiversal War.
But now thanks to Loki finale, it branched out to Spider- Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ant- Man and the Wasp: Quantumania !
Kevin Feige in an interview ahead of Shang- Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, went on to say, “I’ve seen those rumors as well. Why is everyone talking about that now? That’s what I want to know,” He further added, ” I think one person writes about it, and then another person writes about it, and then everybody’s writing about it, and then it’s happening.”
The former Marvel Comics Editor- in – Chief Jim Shooter, who had written the Secret Wars limited series crossover of the 1980s which sparked rumours of a live- adaptation when he revealed his talks with Marvel during the latest convention appearance.
The event series puts fan favorite heroes like Spider-Man, members of the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and the Avengers against villains like Doctor Doom and Kang the Conqueror on a planet called Battleworld. It was then followed by another Secret Wars crossover in 2015, but this time it sees the multiple universes fighting for the survival in a Multiversal War written by Jonathan Hickman.
Feige later said, ” Secret Wars is a great, giant crossover. There are a lot of great, giant crossovers that we could adapt — it’s the ongoing embarrassment of riches of Marvel Comics”, additionally he went on, ” Which really is, I think, unprecedented in an ongoing fictional narrative. And we can sit here with our 25th film release, Shang-Chi; we’ve already started filming our 31st and 32nd MCU features [The Marvels and Quantuamnia], not counting that we’re going on seven, eight Disney+ series, and you can still be asked about other things that you haven’t touched yet. And that is remarkable.”
In the finale of Loki, “For All Time. Always”, He Who Remains recalled the “all-out war” that broke out between realities, sparking the Multiversal War where each variant of Nathaniel Richards fought to “to preserve their universe and annihilate the others.”
The description of this “war” is quite similar to the Secret Wars 2015; where all heroes and villains from across the Multiverse assemble as the words are colliding!
Looks like fans will have to wait a little more longer to witness the Secret Wars on big screens!
