“Kindly release the audition tape. I need a good laugh”: Josh Peck Almost Replaced Robert Pattinson in Twilight, Fans Demand to See the Video
Josh Peck started in show business at the mere age of 10 when he appeared on The Rosie O’Donnell Show. He made his film debut with the 2000 comedy film Snow Day. He used to appear on The Amanda Show frequently until the end of its run in 2002.
Although Josh Peck appeared in several shows and movies, he did not gain recognition until he was cast as Josh Nichols in the 2004 Nickelodeon teen sitcom Drake & Josh. This sitcom made him popular among young audiences. He went on to star in numerous other movies and shows over the years. However, there is one movie franchise in which he almost starred, but was replaced by Robert Pattinson instead.
Josh Peck Almost Starred In Twilight
Taylor Lautner, who played the role of werewolf Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga film series, appeared in an episode GREAT GUYS (Taylor Lautner’s Version) of Josh Peck’s podcast Good Guys Podcast. This led to the Mean Creek actor revealing to his co-host Ben Soffer and guest Lautner that he had auditioned for the lead role of Edward Cullen.
Recounting the incident, Josh Peck said on his podcast Good Guys:
“I remember it’s like 2006? 2007? They’re like, ‘Audition for this movie, Twilight. It’s based on a book — it’s gonna be great.’ So I sent in my tape … for Edward. A month later, I’m with my manager. He goes, ‘It’s down to you and three guys. You’re close,’ I’m like [surprised], ‘Really?’ I hadn’t even had a tummy tuck yet! I’m like, ‘There’s no way. He’s gotta be so shirtless. It’s not gonna happen.'”

Some fans on X (formerly Twitter), demanded that Josh Peck’s audition tape be released. An X user wrote: “Kindly release the audition tape. I really need a good laugh” Some other users said that Peck as Edward Cullen might not have been the best.

I think that was the point. Casting shows the director the ‘top’ candidates. Basically it’s the ONE actor they (casting dept) want and the rest def do not pick so the direction choose the casting dept choice

Despite everything that happened, Josh Peck does not seem to have any bad blood with Robert Pattinson as he was rather shocked that he was even considered in the first place. Both Peck and Pattinson have now worked with Christopher Nolan so no harm has been done.
Robert Pattinson Was on Valium on The Day of His Twilight Audition
In an interview with GQ, Robert Pattinson revealed that he had developed a fear of auditions which would make his confidence level drop drastically on the day of the audition, and that was exactly what he was experiencing on the morning of his Twilight audition. So, he took the help of an anti-anxiety medication to calm down his nerves.

During the GQ interview, Pattinson said:
“I had never taken a Valium before. I just remember feeling so glorious in the back of the taxi with the window open and just being like, ‘Wow, this is what I’ve been missing.’ I think I had this quite spacey, detached kind of thing in the audition, which must have worked for the character.”
Thankfully, the valium did its job well, and Robert Pattinson managed to bag the role of Edward Cullen. The Batman star found the role interesting and his chemistry with Kristen Stewart who played the role of the female protagonist Bella Swan also worked wonders for him.
