Mahershala Ali Was Reportedly Furious With Blade, Wanted to Leave as He Was Reduced to Fourth Lead in His Own Film
Seems like Marvel is surrounded by numerous challenges since it announced some of its highly anticipated films. This time it centers on actor Mahershala Ali who almost decided to abandon Blade due to script issues.
The actor who’s one of the main leads in the upcoming Blade was quite upset with the movie after which he almost decided to leave from contributing to the film. Reports suggest that Mahershala Ali had script issues and felt overshadowed by other actors. It was reported that the early script had Ali as a sidekick in his own movie where he plays the titular role.
Mahershala Ali Almost Abandoned Blade After Being Overshadowed
There have been major challenges during the production of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming and much anticipated Blade featuring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as the main lead. However, Ali did not feel like the main lead, and in fact, the actor claimed being overshadowed by other actors making him look like the fourth significant character in his own film.

A recent report from Variety has highlighted the major concerns surrounding the production of Blade, of which the main is Mahershala Ali almost decided to leave the film after script issues. Even though the president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige has been making changes due to criticism, there emerged uncertainties like script rewrites, director changes, and budget concerns.
The Leave the World Behind actor considered abandoning Blade before its latest rewrite which is handed over to Logan writer Michael Green. The movie has suffered almost five different writers and two directors. The previous script focused on featuring female characters and delving into life lessons instead of centering Mehershala Ali’s character.
When Will Blade Featuring Mahershala Ali Hit Theatres
After encountering various uncertainties throughout its production Blade is set to hit screens in 2025. It was previously announced that the True Detective star’s movie would come out in 2023, but as it suffered several setbacks during its tumultuous MCU production, Blade is pushed to 2025 in which Ali will portray the thrilling role of the vampire hunter.
The president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige had no plans to execute anything like Blade but he failed at ignoring the Academy Awards winner and his interest in portraying the titular role. Finally, after significant challenges and modifications, let’s see what Michael Green presents as he’s already an acclaimed and creative writer who proved his talent through Hugh Jackman’s Logan.
Blade will officially feature Mahershala Ali in the Marve Cinematic Universe as he only did a voice cameo in Eternals. The additional characters are yet to be officially confirmed by Marvel but, other cast members include Delroy Lindo, Aaron Pierre, and Infinity Pool‘s Mia Goth. We hope that Blade makes up to 2025 after facing enough delays as fans will go crazy after a long anticipation if it suffers another major delay or challenge in its production.
