The actor also known by his ring name Batista is a multiple-time WWE world heavyweight champion, who also learned grappling after leaving WWE in 2010. Bautista’s career in wrestling was quite smooth after he won a championship and he left it once to transition into the world of MMA. American mixed Martial artist Matt Arroyo asked Bautista why he learned Grappling on his Instagram reel and the actor said:

“I officially started grappling around 2010. I was an amateur wrestler, I wrestled in high school. Then obviously I wrestled professionally, so there was always a little bit of grappling involved. But I started training with Cesar Gracie in 2010. I wanted to learn, I wanted to put on a GI, I wanted to get some belts and really kind of figure out what I was doing. Because up until then, I was just using basic wrestling to get by with guys who were real grapplers. I was training a little bit. I just wasn’t officially training in Jiu-Jitsu”.

The Guardians of the Galaxy star explained why he wanted to get involved in grappling and had a few MMA fights afterward. In 2014 Bautista made a return to WWE when he was on the edge of losing hope in Hollywood and made a final run before officially retiring from professional wrestling. Bautista is also regarded as the 2000s top star in WWE.
