‘Not trying to be critical of anybody’: Britney Spears Clueless About Body Shaming Outrage After Christina Aguilera Unfollows Her
Popstar Britney Spears recently made an Instagram post body shaming Christina Aguilera’s dancers. Spears posted a picture of a quote by comedian Rodney Dangerfield that read, “I found there was only one way to look thin: Hang out with fat people.” She included a long caption with the post and a part of it included, “… I mean if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small… ” This instance was followed by Aguilera unfollowing her. She made another post on Tuesday denying the body-shaming allegations.

The Toxic singer’s Instagram post about Christina Aguilera‘s dancers put her into a spot where she was facing criticism for her opinions. Her fans were upset with her post and expressed their disagreement in the comments section. Her post included questionable remarks like,
“Don’t you think my confidence would have been a bit better if I could choose where I lived, ate, whom I called on the phone, dated and who was on stage with me !!!”
Aguilera later unfollowed Spears on Instagram and didn’t comment on anything about the said post.
Britney Denies Body-Shaming Remarks, Says She Never Mentioned Christina in Her Post
After her fatphobic post went viral, Britney Spears went on to Instagram again to deny the accusations put against her. On Tuesday, Spears posted a picture of an illustration by illustrator Carrie (@carriedraw), and yet again, included a long caption. This time Britney denied body-shaming Christina Aguilera. She wrote,
“By no means was I being critical of Christina’s beautiful body, it is what it is!!!”
Spears then wrote how she never mentioned Aguilera in her post,
“By no means did I ever mention Christina, look at my post!!! I was inspired by her show and she is a beautiful woman of power… Thank you @xtina for inspiring me!!!”
She referred to a show by Aguilera that she attended where she saw diversity amongst her on-stage crew.

Post Conservatorship, Britney Opens Up About Dealing With Insecurities
In the same post, the Baby One More Time singer mentioned her intention behind making the post about Christina Aguilera. Spears wrote,
“To be honest, I’m not trying to be critical of anybody. What I posted is a projection of the insecurities I deal with all the time as a result of how my parents and the media have treated me…”
She later elaborated on how she would never body shame, anyone, intentionally because she knows what it is like to be the one at the receiving end. Spears, 40, who has been recently vocal about the things she went through in the past also mentioned that she didn’t have the liberty to choose who she shares the stage with. That led to her insecurities getting worse, hence she projected it through the post made for Aguilera’s dancers. Fans showered Spears with support and the confusion wrapped around her post was thereupon cleared.
