The official trailer of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has come along with the Superbowl event. The upcoming sci-fi drama is a sequel to the blockbuster reboot Planet Of The Apes prequel trilogy. The film follows almost a hundred years after the events from the 2017 released War For The Planet Of The Apes which saw the franchise’s deadliest villain Proximus Caesar and his followers track down the colonel, a paramilitary leader in quest for a safe future for the apes.
The recent trailer of Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes has set the internet on fire. With Proximus Caesar taking center stage in the upcoming project, fans want to know more about him.

Everything You Need To Know About Proximus, The Deadliest Villain Of Planet of the Apes Franchise
Canadian actor Kevin Durand is the voice behind the deadliest antagonist, Proximus Ceaser from the Planet Of The Apes franchise. Proximus was a great leader in the initial projects of the Planet Of The Apes franchise, but in a quest to find a safe haven for his clan, he ended up becoming one of the deadliest antagonists in the science fiction franchise. The evolved Bonobo ape is leading his clan and is quite clear with the objective of dominating human beings with the use of ancient technology.
During an interview with the reputed media outlet Empire via Screenrant, actor Kevin Durand spoke about his upcoming project Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes. He even spoke about why the ape antagonist bears the name Proximus Caesar. He explained-
“Caesar is almost a religious figure, and Proximus has taken on the name Caesar because it was the highest position held in ape society. It was a self-proclamation that was achieved by any means necessary, to ensure that apes continue to evolve. So you’re seeing the influence and the evolution of what Caesar left. And like every morsel of human history, there’s always some type of tyrant who comes along and scares everyone into believing them.”
With the recently dropped official trailer of the Kingdom Of The Planet Of the Apes, the character of the main protagonist Noa is voiced by Owen Teague, Proximus Caesar is voiced by Kevin Durand, and the character of Mae is played by actor Freya Allan. The Planet Of Apes franchise is one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood. The Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes collected around 481 million in 2011, followed by the 2014 release Dawn of the Planet Of The Apes with $708.8 million, and War for the Planet Of the Apes went on to collect $490. 7 million at the box office.

What Is The Kingdom Of The Planets Of The Apes All About?
The trailer of the Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes starts with a Proximus Caesar talking about the concept of evolution, and how human beings and apes used to co-exist. The trailer mentions-
“Are you familiar with the concept of evolution? In their time humans were capable of many great things. They could fly like eagles. They could speak across the oceans, but now it is our time, and it is my kingdom.”
The plot of the upcoming movie revolves around Owen Teague led by Noa, a young chimpanzee who has a very different thinking about human beings in comparison to Ceaser and other apes. According to the trailer, Noa would end up going against his own clan to help Mae, played by actor Freya Allan.
The official synopsis for the Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes mentions-
“Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.”
The sci-fi drama is helmed by filmmaker Wes Ball. It is executively produced by Joe Hartwick, Rick Jaffa, Peter Chernin, Jason Reed, Jenno Topping, and Wes Ball. The movie features Owen Teague, Kevin Durand, Peter Macon, William H. Macy, and Freya Allan.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be released in theaters on May 10, 2024.
