Playing Harry Potter Was Embarassing Says Daniel Radcliffe
Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has finally revealed that his starring role in the magical Harry Potter series used to cause a lot of embarrassment to him.
Talking to Too Fab alongside Sandra Bullock (The Lost City), both actors were asked about previous roles that they were once embarrassed by but have now come around to.
Daniel Radcliffe Was Once Embarrassed of Playing Harry Potter
To everyone’s surprise, Radcliffe responded, “I think honestly when I was on Harry Potter and dressed as a schoolboy, it didn’t feel like the coolest thing in the world at the time.” He continued, “It’s been, honestly, later that I’ve looked back and gone, ‘That was incredibly cool,’ and I do feel that now, for sure.”
Daniel Radcliffe’s acting career blasted after he found his leading role in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001). Since the massive success of the initial book, the entire franchise of Harry Potter has ballooned into one of the most successful franchises of all time, with the novels selling over 500 million copies around the world. The film series saw Radcliffe reprising the titular role across eight films, ending with 2011’s Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 2).
Why did Daniel decline to Return As Harry in ‘The Cursed Child’?
Radcliffe recently made an appearance on HBO Max’s Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts special alongside former cast members like Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. Ever since, Radcliffe has gone on to decline a role in the upcoming Cursed Child movie, saying, “I’m getting to a point where I feel like I made it out of Potter OK and I’m really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life. I’m never going to say never, but the Star Wars guys had like 30, 40 years before they went back. For me, it’s only been 10. It’s not something I’m really interested in doing right now.”
What Has Daniel Done Since Harry Potter?
Since Harry Potter came to an end in 2011, Radcliffe has gone ahead to act in various indie and mainstream movie roles across almost each and every genre, which also includes 2019’s Guns Akimbo, 2016’s Swiss Army Man, followed by the upcoming biopic, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
Radcliffe’s next movie, The Lost City, sees the acclaimed actor playing the role of Fairfax, who is a really wealthy businessman, hunting for the fabled Lost City. The film also sees Sandra Bullock as a novelist, who gets kidnapped by Fairfax, only to be saved by Channing Tatum, who appears as her love interest and would-be hero.
All Sandra and Daniel fans can see and follow the adventure when The Lost City hits the theaters on 25th March.
