Real Reason Gal Gadot Nearly Replaced Margot Robbie as Barbie
The world is in awe after the release of Margot Robbie’s Barbie, which was released in theatres last month and has broken the box office record. The film has painted the box office pink after crossing the $1 billion mark. Greta Gerwig directed the film, which included Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the key roles.
Barbie has been achieving unprecedented levels of success, but the film about a doll seeking answers to deeply personal problems almost seems entirely different. Gal Gadot was the actress chosen to bring the doll to life before it was determined that Margot Robbie would take on the role. The Australian actress who served as a producer on the project revealed the reason behind choosing Gadot as Barbie.
The reason why Gal Gadot nearly replace Margot Robbie in Barbie
As Barbie crossed the $1 billion mark, it’s hard to picture anyone in the title role other than Margot Robbie. The actress pairing with Ryan Gosling has led to the success of the film. However, Robbie explained that she wasn’t the first choice to bring the Barbie doll to life it was Gal Gadot.
The Australian actress, who is also the producer of the film, was tasked with finding the perfect Barbie doll. She did not imagine herself in the part right away. Gadot was at the top of her list, but the Wonder Woman actress was unable to be part of Barbieland due to schedule issues.
The 33-year-old actress said,
“Gal Gadot is Barbie energy. Because Gal Gadot is so impossibly beautiful, but you don’t hate her for being that beautiful because she’s so genuinely sincere, and she’s so enthusiastically kind, that it’s almost dorky. It’s like right before being a dork.”
Gerwig spent a long time searching for a protagonist before persuading Margot Robbie to take on the part of Stereotypical Barbie.
Margot Robbie’s act warmed Gal Gadot’s heart
Margot Robbie sat down with the casting director to find the perfect Barbie doll. Her first choice was Gal Gadot, as the Wonder Woman actress had a Barbie energy. Recently, the Israelian actress was warmed by Robbie’s act. She said,
“I adore Margot. Margot is one of those women who you just want to be friends with. She is so funny, warm, fun and smart and obviously so talented. She brings so much to the table. I would love to do anything with Margot and was very touched [by her comments]. She warmed my heart with everything that she said about me. I’m super excited for them, and I’m so excited for ‘Barbie.'”
Every night, the main character of the narrative liked arranging parties with the other Barbies, until one fatal day she realized she no longer loved her seemingly ideal existence. Barbie exceeded all expectations in terms of success, earning more than $1 billion at the global box office.
Barbie is now playing in theaters worldwide.
