Ncuti Gatwa received Ryan Gosling’s million-dollar reaction
Ncuti Gatwa is known for his impressive performance in Sex Education. The actor has successfully established his name in the industry and is certainly being acclaimed for it. Currently, the actor is featured in the upcoming film Barbie alongside Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie as the lead protagonists.
Gatwa has also bagged some massive projects, among which Doctor Who remains the most anticipated one. The actor is all set to star in the legendary BBC series in the lead role. During an interview with Vogue, the 30-year-old actor shared his excitement for his role in the upcoming film. Gatwa was startled to know that he has been offered the role of The Doctor, as he was never to be cast for the role since he is a black man. He said,
“I felt numb. And keeping it a secret until the announcement was very difficult. I’d often get a little tipsy in Soho House, make a new best friend in the bathroom, tell them, and runoff. Thankfully, it never got out.”
But Gatwa isn’t the only one who got excited about the news. His Barbie co-star, Ryan Gosling, was thrilled to acknowledge Gatwa’s new project. Gatwa shared with the news outlet,
“I remember Ryan Gosling bounding up to my trailer like, ‘Doctor Who is the coolest show in the world man! I’m the biggest fan,’. And I was like, ‘What the hell?’ This show has incredible reach.”
Gosling’s reaction to Gatwa’s casting was indeed priceless. The La La Land actor is seemingly a hardcore fan of both Gatwa and Doctor Who.
What’s in store for Ncuti Gatwa’s upcoming projects?
After giving an incredible performance in all three seasons of Sex Education, Ncuti Gatwa has finally let go of the series with contentment in his heart. Gatwa portrayed the character of Eric in the series, who won’t be making it to the fourth installment, according to the actor. Referring to his character, Gatwa said,
“He gets the ending I wanted for him. Things get tied up. And there was one scene that I particularly fought for, and I managed to get it in, which was great. Aimee and I wrote it, and we were redrafting it until like 3 am the day before. I’ve never written for Eric before so that felt big, and it was a scene that meant a lot to me in terms of Eric’s journey and relationships. It felt very necessary.”
After bidding farewell to one of the best roles, the actor hasn’t stopped yet, as he is currently starring in the upcoming film Barbie as Ken. Apart from that, a major and highly anticipated project awaits Gatwa. The actor will be starring as the new incarnation of Doctor Who. The series will make its return in November. The film features iconic stars like David Tennant, Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff, and Yasmin Finney.
