Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams’ starrer movie The Notebook was a masterpiece directed by Nick Cassavetes. Romantic Drama won the hearts of the audiences because of its beautiful tale of love between Noah and Allie. Gosling and McAdams who were averse to each other at the beginning of filming the movie ended up together after the completion of their movie filming.

In an Interview, Ryan Gosling talked about his relationship with Rachel McAdams and how their movie affected their relationship. The 42-year-old actor explained how people approached him and told him that his movie The Notebook created unrealistic expectations in normal people’s lives. He further talked about how the movie also affected his relationship with the Mean Girls actress. Gosling said, 

“If you see some of those movies, then you look at your romance and it doesn’t compare, you think, oh, what I have isn’t love because that’s love.”

The Gray Man actor joked about how McAdams also had unreal expectations in their relationship. The actor said,

“Yeah, every time I come home, Rachel screams, ‘Why didn’t you write me? Every morning I put arrows outside her bed. And I build her a house every week.” 

According to reports, one of the main reasons the Canadian actress and Gosling split up was because of their growing fame and hectic schedules. In a statement Gosling said,

“When both people are in show business, it’s too much show business. It takes all of the light, so nothing else can grow.”

Gosling and McAdams began dating in 2005 and ended their relationship in 2007.

Before the ex-couple started dating in 2005, they were enemies and Gosling wanted Cassavetes the director of the movie to replace McAdams. In an interview, Cassavetes said, 

“Maybe I’m not supposed to tell this story, but Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were really not getting along one day on set. Really not. Ryan came to me, and there are 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, ‘Nick come here.’”

He further added,

He’s doing a scene with Rachel and he says, ‘Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off-camera with me?’” I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.’”

Right after the movie was completed and The Notebook became a hit movie, Gosling and McAdams came across each other once again. In an interview, the La La Land actor was asked how did they go from enemies to lovers and he said he saw McAdams in New York and they both realized that they were wrong about each other. The Barbie actor and McAdams’ relationship was filled with love and support but things didn’t go as they had planned, which is why they decided to break up.
