Shakira Requests Reporter For “a little respect” After Disrespectful Question Amid Tom Cruise and Lewis Hamilton Rumors
Latin superstar Shakira has been the center of focus for paparazzi ever since her breakthrough album Laundry Service was released at the start of the century. But these days, she is catching their attention for not the best of reasons.
In June 2022, Shakira and Barcelona soccer legend Gerard Pique announced they were separating after a long relationship that kick-started during the former’s shooting of her song Waka Waka for the soccer World Cup in South Africa in 2010.
Since then, Shakira has made headlines for either singing about her breakup with Pique or for the claims – which have been borderline disrespectful at times – of her affairs with several high-profile names.
Pique’s Ex Shakira Lost Her Cool at a Reporter
The Colombian superstar has been enjoying her summer traveling around Europe – from London to Barcelona, the city where she lived for a large part of the last decade with Pique and their two boys, Sasha and Milan.
But recently on her return to Miami, Shakira encountered a paparazzo, who irked her with his questions. The 46-year-old’s name has been linked with Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One superstar Tom Cruise and British racing legend Lewis Hamilton.
As per Spanish outlet MARCA, as Shakira was approaching her vehicle, a reporter from the show “El Gordo y la Flaca”, Leonel Arguelles, fired a string of questions toward the Hips Don’t Lie singer. What started as questions about her musical productions and her children studying in the same school as Lionel Messi’s children somehow ended with the reporter enquiring if she would give him a chance for love.
Shakira didn’t like the question, and reacted: “Please, a little respect.” Her reaction was totally reasonable, especially when considering she was with her kids.
The iconic singer didn’t give any answer about her love life, but rumors continue to fly, and the latest name being attached to her is that of NBA player Jimmy Butler.

Shakira Embroiled in Alleged Tax Fraud Case
The questions about her love life from annoying reporters aren’t the only thing that might frustrate Shakira.
A court near Barcelona has agreed to “open an investigation into a second case of alleged tax fraud” by X Factor judge Shakira. Spanish authorities are interested in the earnings of the Colombian star – who’s now based in South Beach of Miami – as she lived in the Catalan region during her relationship with Pique, who played for the city’s famous soccer club.
She’s already in the spotlight and set to face trial for allegedly failing to pay $13.9m in taxes on income earned between 2012 and 2014.
