At one point, her family was her only support but it was right then that her father’s health was also in jeopardy. As the year heads to an end, she released a video to thank all of her fans and supporters who supported her throughout this tough period.
With everything that went down with her through the year, she honestly deserves a break. Her decade-long relationship coming to an end and the custody battle were the few things that caught the media’s eyes the most this year.

Shakira ended her decade-long relationship with Spanish footballer Gerard Pique when she caught him cheating on her. The breakup was already very tough for the Colombian singer but the custody battle for her kids was even tougher. After many back-and-forth conversations, a possible legal battle was also considered by the ex-couple. However, they decided to sleep on it and decided to do whatever they thought was in their kids’ best interests.
The Whenever Whatever singer also had some legal trouble with the Spanish tax authorities this year. She was in deep trouble as allegedly she had not paid her due tax during the period between 2012 and 2014. Although her representatives have said that she did not reside in Barcelona back then, there is a good chance that she can go to prison if this goes to trial.
The Colombian Singer thanked her fans for all the support
Shakira recently dropped a video in which she thanked her fans for supporting her through this tough year. In the video, she said, “I want to thank you for listening to me, for allowing me to express myself.” She further added that she is looking forward to the next year. “Hopefully in 2023 I can continue to reciprocate all the love and affection you give me, and bring you new music and much, much more, kisses,” she continued. Despite the tough year, the Waka Waka singer made her return to the music industry after a long time.
Although it was a tough year, things are looking good for the Colombian singer in 2023. According to recent reports, Shakira will be able to move her children to Miami after the holidays. And, Pique can come to visit them whenever he wants.
