Rather than picking up where the original film in 2019 left off, which boasted a mid-credits tease of Mister Mind, a classic villain who is a super-intelligent caterpillar, however, the sequel heads in a different direction.

As suggested by the title, Fury of the Gods debuts a few classical deities, or at least the offspring of one: Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu joining the cast as Hespera and Kalypso, also the daughters of Atlas, from whom Shazam draws a part of his power.

Footage that was screened in April at CinemaCon 2022 also revealed a cameo by Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. The film, which was released in 2019, also had a cool cameo by Superman. However, he wasn’t portrayed by Henry Cavill, so fans never get to see his face.

David F. Sandberg will be the returning director and recently boasted that Fury of the Gods is “a much bigger movie than the first one.” “There’s so much stuff that I can’t wait for people to see,” he continued. “I hope they put a lot of it in the trailer. I don’t even care about spoilers, I’m just eager to show off our creatures, action, etc.”
