Chelsea Clinton, Hillary Clinton’s daughter, recently talked about her friendship with Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump. In her recent interview with Andy Cohen on his show, Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Chelsea Clinton revealed that she hasn’t talked to Ivanka Trump since 2016 after her mother lost the presidency to Donald Trump. In the interview, she explained that she “crossed over to the dark side.” Their friendship took a massive hit during the presidency of Donald Trump. Even last year, she told Andy Cohen that she is not interested in being friends with Ivanka Trump anymore.
Chelsea Clinton says Ivanka Trump went to the “dark side”
Chelsea Clinton recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen with her mother, Hillary Clinton. In the interview, she talked about her friendship with Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump. She explained that Ivanka Trump went to the “dark side,”
“I would say we were friends, She’s not the person I called when I was curious about something for my kids or if I was debating a life decision, but we were definitely friends. And then she went to the dark side.”
In 2015, she told People that Ivanka Trump was a “great woman” and she was “really grateful” for the bond she had with her. However, things took a turn after her mother lost the presidency to Donald Trump.
She accused Ivanka Trump’s husband of lying in his memoir
During the interview, Andy Cohen told them that Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump’s husband, revealed in his memoir that back in November of 2016, Ivanka Trump invited Chelsea Clinton to have dinner with her. Andy Cohen then asked them about the incident, and Hilary Clinton replied, “We missed that,” while her daughter added, “And we’ll keep missing it.”
Chelsea Clinton then admitted that Ivanka Trump called her but doesn’t recall any dinner invitations. She said,
“It is true that I spoke to Ivanka in November 2016, it’s the last time I have spoken to her, but I do not recall being invited to dinner.”
In 2016, in an interview with Vogue, Chelsea Clinton said that things are good between them and she still considers her a very close friend.
Last year, Chelsea Clinton said she is not interested in being friends with her
Chelsea Clinton appeared on Andy Cohen’s show last year as well and revealed that she is no longer interested in being friends with Ivanka Trump. She said,
“I have no interest in being friends with someone who is not only complicit but actively taking part in this administration’s every day collision of cruelty and incompetence.”
The two were very good friends in 2015 and Ivanka Trump even told People that their friendship “has never been about politics” and likely wouldn’t be about politics in the future as well.
