Legendary actor Laurence Fishburne has left an indelible mark on audiences with his work in films like The Matrix and John Wick. Fishburne recently went on The View and learned that not even the most famous actors are immune to social missteps. The gifted actor has three children: Langston Fishburne, 34, Montana Fishburne, 31, with his first wife, and Delilah Fishburne, 15, with his second wife, Gina Torres.

The actor promoted his new animated series, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, on the show. When co-host Joy Behar asked about his family life, things took an unexpected turn. Behar specifically enquired if any of Fishburne’s children intended to follow in his footsteps by becoming performers.
It seems to be an innocuous question, correct? But things soon became awkward when Fishburne made a sly allusion to his oldest daughter, Montana Fishburne, whose adult film career has already made headlines. You read it right. Things just became more unpleasant from there on out.
However, credit where credit is due, Fishburne handled the matter with every ounce of professionalism he had. Despite his obvious discomfort, the actor refused to conceal the truth about his family’s situation. Fishburne mentioned that his younger daughter, Delilah Fishburne, is interested in theater.
“Yeah, she’s very interested in the theater”
The Boyz n the Hood actor even suggested that one of his older children may already be in the entertainment industry.
“I may have one of my children may actually be in the business.”
Fishburne reiterated that he would not discuss Montana Fishburne’s career when questioned by Behar. Who could blame him? It is no secret that Fishburne’s work in adult films has generated controversy and attracted considerable media attention.
When Fishburne mentioned that his youngest daughter Delilah Fishburne is involved in theater and a gospel choir, Behar asked if any other children were interested in acting.
Montana Fishburne: The Unspoken Daughter
At this point, Fishburne appeared uncomfortable and tried to brush off the question with a joking response, but Behar persisted and even patted him on the back reassuringly. She commented that it could be difficult for children to follow in their parent’s footsteps and achieve the same level of success.
“Sometimes it’s hard to follow in your footsteps.”
Fishburne responded with a comment about a “shadow thing,” which may have been a reference to his children’s pressure to live up to his accomplishments. He quickly shifted the conversation to his experiences as a child actor, perhaps to steer the discussion away from his family.
“Yeah, that’s what I heard. I’ve heard there’s like a shadow thing.”
The actor’s daughter was detained in 2017 after causing a vehicle accident and urinating on the side of the road as police removed the debris. Not the kind of attention any parent would desire for their kid. However, despite the awkward nature of the chat, Fishburne deserves praise for his candor and willingness to discuss sensitive matters.
This is not the first time he has faced scandal in Fishburne’s personal life. The actor has also had a public divorce and custody fight with his second wife, Gina Torres. Fishburne has remained a gentleman, handling tough circumstances with elegance and composure.
