Supernatural Gets Parodied By The Boys With Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy
Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys has cleverly referenced Supernatural star Jensen Ackles’ infamous role as Dean Winchester in the fanntasy TV series, Supernatural, which went off air a few years back.
Ove on social media, Amazon Prime Video released an image of Season 3 of The Boys’ main trio of Billy Butcher, Soldier Boy, and Hughie Campbell looking at an open trunk.
Jensen Ackles Trrolled By The Boys Team
“There’s a Winchester in that trunk but it ain’t the kind you’re [thinking],” read the caption. Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, commented, “I see what you did there…and I like it.”
Winchesters Are Again Trending On Social Media
This social media post referenced the Supernaural’s Winchester family of hit eopular series. The most popular Winchesters were the series’ main sibling duo Sam Winchester, played by Jared Padalecki, and Dean Winchester, portrayed by Ackles.
The Winchester brothers were actually monster hunters in the series, who hunted supernatural creatures that were a threat to human beings. Thanks to their vicious line of work, they also have an arsenal of weapons in Dean’s car trunk.
Eric Kripke Wanted Padalecki and Ackles On The Boys
Eric Kripke, showrunner of The Boys earlier revealed thatt he wished Padalecki to go and join his former co-star Jensen Ackles for fan-favourite The Boys.
“I would put Jared on the show in a heartbeat,” he said. He did want a reunion between the Winchester brothers, and showrunner Kripke believed that Padalecki was busy managing his own farmhouse in Texas, where he stays with his wife and their three kids. He will reprise his role as Cordell Walker in The CW’s drama series reboot, of the western, Texas Ranger, which was recently renewed for a third season in March this year.
While Padalecki will not br making a return to The Boys any time soon, Kripke has stated that there’s another Supernatural actor that is in talks for a role in the superhero satire.
“Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a superfan of [The Boys], so he and I are talking,” Kripke said. “We’re trying to figure out something for Season 4. Nothing finalized yet, but he and I are chatting and e-mailing and seeing if we can make it work with his busy schedule. So, stay tuned on that.”
The Boys season has seen a pretty overwhelming reception, receiving a critics score of 97 about audience reception, while Rotten Tomatoes boasts a score of 82 percent.
Season 3 of The Boys is streaming on Prime Video, with the finale premiering on July 8.
