Taylor Swift Hinted Her Breakup With Joe Alwyn in Her Eras Tour Playlist as Singer Parts Ways After 6 Years
The master of the ‘Secret Message’, Taylor Swift, may have dropped a pretty big hint about her breakup with Joe Alwyn, a full week before it became known.
On March 31, the 33-year-old singer made a significant change to her Eras Tour setlist during the first of the tour’s three nights in Arlington, Texas. This is especially the case if rumors that she and Alwyn have broken off their six-year relationship are to be confirmed.
The American singer-songwriter shocked the audience by substituting The 1, which is about lost love and remembering, with Invisible String, which centers on two soulmates. According to sources close to the couple, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have ended their six-year relationship.
According to ET, the Lavender Haze singer, who is currently on tour, and the British actor allegedly had a friendly breakup that was “not dramatic.”

Taylor Swift Dropped A Hint About Her Split From Joe Alwyn
The singer and British actor allegedly split up several weeks ago, according to reports that surfaced on Sunday (9 April).
The relationship allegedly ended after “running its course,” according to Entertainment Tonight, which broke the news of the alleged breakup. Joe Alwyn has not been seen at any of Taylor Swift’s concerts since the Eras tour began on March 18; the Anti-Hero singer is currently touring the US. Swift has been playing music from all of her studio albums while on tour.
Swift initially opened the tour with Invisible String, a song about the inextricable bond between lovers, which was a setlist from her 2020 album Folklore. Though, since her performance in Arlington, Texas, on March 31, she has instead performed the breakup song, The 1, which is the album’s opening track.
According to PEOPLE, the British actor and Grammy-winning musician were first connected in May 2017, when it was revealed that they had allegedly been dating covertly for months. Fans believe that Swift and Alwyn first ran into each other at the 2016 Met Gala, though it is unclear when they actually first connected.
Inside Their Relationship
When Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn first began dating almost six years ago, it was immediately clear that they had mutually agreed that their relationship would be intimate but private. Thus, the former couple would have worked together to protect that privacy.
The two met shortly after Swift’s widely publicized affair with Tom Hiddleston was ruling the tabloids.
The 33-year-old singer and Conversations with Friends actor were notoriously private about their union and have worked hard to keep it out of the public eye. Alwyn admitted the public’s interest in his relationship with the Grammy Award winner in an interview with Vogue. “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people.”
Also, note that the former couple has been dating for a long time, but they haven’t yet appeared together on the red carpet.
The 32-year-old actor isn’t the only Swift lover who shows up on her album, though. The bonus track Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve, which is quite emo, provides more insight into her relationship with John Mayer back in 2010, to put it mildly.
Her last three albums, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights, all feature songs that the Blank Space singer and the Harriet actor co-wrote, under the pseudonym William Bowery.
