The actress starred in three movies from The Hunger Games franchise. She joined the team alongside Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 2013, Mockingjay – Part 1, 2014, and 2015’s Mockingjay – Part 2.

Jena Malone played the character Johanna Mason in the famous franchise. She had been through a dark past and came out as pansexual last year. The 38-year star, in a recent Instagram post, revealed being s*xually assaulted while filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

She shared a picture and wrote a long message, stating the trigger warring for the fans. Malone posted a sun-drenched photo of her in the French countryside taken after wrapping up the dystopian film series.

Her caption read, “This photo was taken right after I wrapped Mockingjay Part Two and I had to say goodbye to everyone on set.” The American actress described her time in France as difficult. She said, “I was so full of gratitude for this project, the people I became close with and this amazing part I got to play.”

She was clear on not naming the person responsible for her trauma She even shared her healing experience. “How to hold the chaos with the beauty. I’ve worked very hard to heal and learn (through) restorative justice, how to make peace with the person who violated me and make peace with myself”, she wrote in the caption.

While concluding her post, Malone assured of being there for people who needed to talk about such things with someone. She described the healing process as slow and non-linear while sending love to the survivors. No representative of Lionsgate, the studio behind The Hunger Games franchise, didn’t respond for comment.

Fans flooded Jena Malone’s post with love and support

While the post gained the attention of the people, they started flooding support to the actress through the comment section. A person wrote, “Thanks for your bravery and vulnerability. Big love to you and so much gratitude for all you’ve brought to this universe. So very sorry you had to endure this.”

The 38-year-old was active enough to answer a person, who asked why she denied naming the attacker. She commented,

“What lead me there was feeling not held by ‘outing’ someone using the traditional cancel-like culture that has been created. I also don’t fully see how the criminal justice system could fully repair my healing, though I believe it can help in many ways.”

The Hunger Games star used restorative justice as a process that helped her heal.
