Henry Cavill as The Witcher

Henry Cavill, a British actor, is a gifted performer known for his role as Geralt of Rivia in the fantasy show The Witcher. After the successful run of the first two seasons, Netflix brought its third season. It was divided into two parts and received mixed reviews from fans. Despite that, viewers tuned in to watch the third season as it marked the end of Cavill’s era as the titular character.

With the actor’s time now at an end on the show, director Marc Jobst who worked with the actor shared the challenges in making the show and praised the 40-year-old for his dedication.

Jobst sat down for an interview with Screen Rant for the live-action One Piece show and discussed his time on the fantasy show. He opened up about Cavill’s departure from The Wicher. The director lauded the actor for his commitment and physical prowess in bringing Geralt to life and expressed understanding of the British actor being exhausted after three seasons. He said,

“Well, look, Henry has done three series, these are demanding shows to make, you know, they are huge. Henry does every single beat of his stunts, he won’t even allow a hand, if you’re doing a close up of a hand grabbing a sword, it has to be his hand.”

Jobst further praised the 40-year-old completing all of his stunts without the need of a stunt double, not even for small movements like holding a sword in one’s hand. He said,

“Henry won’t do that, and as a result of that, the results are extraordinary. You’re working with an incredible athlete, first and foremost, who works out hours before, and hours after, you’ve been shooting for 12 hours, and who cares deeply about the work that he does.”

Jobst emphasized his appreciation of the toll that intense participation in the role can take on an actor, particularly as the protagonist. The director noted that Henry Cavill’s decision to step back was respected, given his crucial role in bringing the program to life.
