“Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics”: Kevin Hart Promises Never to Host the Oscars Again After Jo Koy Controversy at the Golden Globes
Kevin Hart is a well-known Hollywood actor and comedian. After starting as a stand-up comedian, he transitioned into acting in movies and on TV shows. Hart is also popular for the American talk show Hart to Heart.
Interestingly, Kevin Hart was once booked to host the prestigious Oscars back in 2019. However, Hart had to back down after a series of his homophobic tweets made in the past resurfaced online.
Will Kevin Hart ever host the Oscars again?
Kevin Hart is here to disappoint any hopes you had of seeing him host the Oscars. This comes after the recent Jo Koy controversy at The Golden Globes where Koy was criticized for going on an off-script rant when his jokes failed to land.
As a result, it looks like Kevin Hart has made up his mind about not hosting award shows. While speaking to Sky News recently, Hart expressed how the award shows are not “comedy-friendly” environments and said:
“Whatever little hope you had, I want to destroy it right now. Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics. It’s no shot to the Oscars, no shot to the Globes, or anything else. Those just aren’t comedy-friendly environments anymore.”
Furthermore, Kevin Hart spoke about how he feels there’s no room for comics in an award show now. He said:
“It’s a collaborative thing, different people get to be responsible for act one, act two, act three, but you know, the days of it being a room for a comic, those days are done.”
That said, it’s certainly disappointing news for his fans but the comedian’s decision also makes sense considering how comics have to take the blame if their gig fails to impress the audience.
Kevin Hart recalls a failed attempt to humble his kids
During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Kevin Hart recalled how he tried to humble his kids. Having been brought up in luxury and wealth, Hart wanted to show his kids the rather tougher side of the world by taking them to his hometown of Philadelphia. While recalling what he said to his kids, Hart said:
“This fairy tale we’re in isn’t real and at some point when I’m not around, when your mother’s not around, when your friends or other family aren’t around, you may get tested with the other side that’s out there that you’ve never seen. So I have got to prepare you for the things that you don’t know exist.”
Interestingly, the comedian further revealed that his attempt backfired as his kids ended up liking his old home and asked if they could potentially stay there.
