Marvel has been ruling the hearts of comic book lovers with an iron fist for decades. However, recently, the multiverse saga of the MCU has been nothing but disappointing, with elaborate and unnecessarily complicated plotlines that have been major box office flops. Marvel had hoped to salvage its past glory through the upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars, which had a lot of fans hyped up. However, with Jonathan Majors now being dropped from the MCU due to assault charges, a big part of Avengers: Secret Wars is hanging in uncertainty.

There is a rumor going around that Tom Hardy might be a part of Marvel’s contingency plan to get out of this mess of a situation that is being described as the final nail in the coffin of the MCU. With that, Tom Hardy’s future looks brighter than ever in the Marvel universe.

According to a scooper, @Cryptic4KQual, Marvel Studios is reportedly eyeing an SSU villain to appear in the MCU. While no one’s guess is any good in that matter as to which villain might appear, there is a strong rumor going around that it is Tom Hardy’s character Venom who landed the big break. According to the user, if the idea does materialize, the villain would have a “a cool but disheartening role.”

This can mean a great deal for Tom Hardy, as his character would get a massive boost from being in the next big thing out of the MCU after Avengers: Endgame. However, fans are rather apprehensive, as the rumor mentions the role would be a disheartening one, and Venom is too popular a character to be trifled with without getting some backlash for it. The fans have already taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express their concern.

Tom Hardy’s Venom is one of the most endearing comic book anti-heroes on screen. The first movie, Venom, grossed $856 million worldwide, setting multiple box office records. It immediately spawned a sequel called Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which grossed $506.9 million worldwide. A third Venom movie is scheduled to appear in November 2024. The audience can only hope that Marvel will do more justice to such a popular character than cast it in a “disheartening role.”
