Former friends and collaborators, John Legend and Kanye West are in the news for their poles apart political opinions. EGOT winner John Legend cleared the air of the information by saying that he is not having any friendship with the American Rapper Kanye West. The reason mentioned by the All of Me singer was Kanye West’s candidacy for the presidency of the United States. While revealing his feelings for his former friend, John Legend added, that his support for Joe Biden and not Donald Trump reportedly caused the fallout with Kanye West.
John Legend shared his side of the story addressing the fallout with Kanye West
During a conversation with Michael Schulman in The New Yorker, John Legend reflected on his opinions about the breakout with Kanye West. His statements made the situation look like it was ‘are you with me or against me’ case with Kanye West as he was supporting Donald Trump. While talking he added,
“I don’t feel like politics should be everything in your relationships, and your relationships with people shouldn’t only be determined by whom they voted for. But I do believe that certain things you believe in are indicators of your character, and obviously, that will affect your friendships.”

John Legend did not want a “life that’s so consumed by politics”
Another speculated reason for the fallout was reported that John Legend was in support of Joe Biden, whereas Kanye West publicly went on to favor Donald Trump. Later in the interview, John Legend did not mention Kanye West’s name but indirectly mentioned about his friendship. He elaborated,
“I don’t want to live a life that’s so consumed by politics that it’s the sole determinant of who can be my friend and who can’t. But values matter and character matters and moral compass matters.”

However, John Legend reported disagreement to support Donald Trump lead to the breakout with his former pal. Recently, John Legend added more about Kanye West on The Axe Files podcast with CNN’s David Axelrod. While talking about Kanye West, he mentioned,
“We publicly disagreed on his running for office, his supporting Trump. I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship.”
John Legend cleared his reason for the fallout with Kanye West with his recent statements. However, Kanye West is yet to respond to the statements given by his former friend.
