“We threatened the media with lawsuits”: Former Scientology Official Claims John Travolta Is Secretly Gay After Revealing Church Caused Tom Cruise To Divorce Nicole Kidman
Mike Rinder, the former senior executive of the Church of Scientology, claims that actor John Travolta is gay. He recently released his memoir called A Billion Years: My Escape From a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology and in the book he wrote about Scientology’s relation with several celebrities. In the book, he also mentioned that he witnessed American actor John Travolta kissing a male masseur. Mike Rinder was a part of the Church of Scientology from 1982-2007 and often acted as the public face of the organization.
John Travolta is reportedly gay
Mike Rinder revealed in his memoir, A Billion Years: My Escape From a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology, that actor John Travolta is gay as he saw him kissing a masseur. He wrote,
“‘I’ll be in soon,’ John said as the masseur headed toward the bedroom. That was pretty shocking, right in front of a senior Scientology official. It was just not done. I guess it was indicative of the trust he placed on me.”
Mike Rinder says he was assigned to help the actor with some public relations issues and met him in a hotel suite.

The organization erased all the evidence
At the time, John Travolta’s love life was a topic of discussion and Mike Rinder was assigned to take care of the situation. He wrote in the book,
“Since the beginning of the ’90s, Travolta had been hounded by stories from various alleged male lovers, including one of his former pilots as well as a porn star. Realizing the potential PR damage a story of gay s*x would have on the perfect Scientology couple of John and Kelly [Preston, the actor’s then-wife], we dug up dirt on the sources and threatened the media with lawsuits.”
Mike Rinder explained that his past relationships would’ve damaged the organization’s image and that is why they had to erase all the evidence.

The Church of Scientology is not anti-gay
Mike Rinder claims that The Church of Scientology is not anti-gay, however, he said that “the threat of a story describing a Scientologist as gay would cause panic internally because for a Scientologist, not being ‘cured’ of homosexuality would indicate, that the tech doesn’t work.” The Church of Scientology, which is often described as a dangerous cult and a manipulative profit-making business, was formed in December 1953.
