‘We’ve laughed enough’: Latest SDCC Leak Reveals MCU Producing World War Hulk Mini Series, Fans Demand Marvel Not to Soften Up Hulk
Hulk is undoubtedly one of Marvel’s most loved characters. He is also one of the most powerful heroes in the comics. However, fans often feel that the character has not been done justice to by the filmmakers of the MCU. This is especially due to the softening of the character in Avengers: Infinity War and the significant altering of the Planet Hulk storyline in Thor: Ragnarok. Now, the fans are demanding that the character be given a chance to reach his full potential in the MCU.
Russo Brothers admit to nerfing down Hulk
Recently, the Russo brothers, who have directed several MCU films, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, admitted to downplaying the character. In an interview with Wired, Joe Russo stated,
“We nerfed the Hulk!” the director admitted to making Hulk less powerful.
“We nerfed him. We just didn’t know what to do with him. We were like, ‘What’s this big powerful character? What do we do with this big powerful character?’”

Joe Russo says Hulk deserved to be downplayed
The director’s justification for downplaying the character is not satisfactory since they managed to do justice to other big characters in the MCU. To fuel the fire, Joe Russo further added,
“He deserved it. Lots of controversial… Marvel fans responding.”
Fans demand the Hulk’s return as a powerful character in World War Hulk
When asked about who the strongest Avenger is, Joe Russo responded by saying,
“Wanda, at one point. Captain Marvel, another point. Thor. Certainly not the Hulk. He’d be low on the list. Like right underneath Groo. Remember Groo the Wanderer? He’s like just below Groo the Wanderer.”
However, despite the director’s comments, fans are still hoping to see World War Hulk in the future and undo their past mistakes in regard to the character. Hopefully, the MCU writers will listen to the fans’ plea and give the character the arc it deserves.
Hulk will return in the Diseny+ series, She-Hulk, which is set to release on August 17, 2022.
