Pete Davidson Opened Up About His Crohn’s Disease
The 29-year-old comedian, Pete Davidson opened up about his incurable disease for the first time in an interview with High Times in 2016. He shared that he discovered Crohn’s disease when he was in his adolescence. He further opened up about how “weed” was the only thing that helped him at the time.
“I got Crohn’s disease when I was 17 or 18 and I found the medicines the doctors were prescribing me and seeing all these doctors and trying new things, weed would be the only thing that would help me eat.”
As per Mayo Clinic, it is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that can affect a person by causing them abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fever, fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition. In severe conditions, individuals suffering from this disease may have inflammation of the skin, eyes, joints, or liver or bile ducts.
It is quite fatal due to the complications involved in it. In the case of the actor, he suffers from severe abdominal pain which can be lessened by medication however it affects his appetite.
Is Pete Davidson’s Crohn’s disease Curable?
Unfortunately, there is no cure for Crohn’s disease however there are medications through which several symptoms can be managed. Anti-inflammatory drugs or immune system suppressors and nutrition therapy are some of the suggestions that doctors prescribe to their patients to manage this disease. In some cases, surgery is sometimes needed which can for nearly half of those suffering from this disease as per Newsweek. However, Davidson may be going with the medications to manage the symptoms for his entire life.
While he has often been mocked for his appearance which might be affected due to his disorder, he has continued to look ahead. Back when he was engaged to Ariana Grande in 2018, a blog, Barstool Sports made fun of his appearance by asking, “Does Pete Davidson have b**thole eyes?”
