Martin Campbell is undeniably an incredible director known for directing a range of movies. When Campbell sat in an interview he discussed the use of Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) in the movie world which the director does not appreciate much. The James Bond director is not a fan of this shift and he doesn’t find the use of digital technology and CGI appealing and entertaining when compared to the traditional way of filming movies. In an interview with Slash Film Martin Campbell said:

“you get ludicrous action of something like Fast and Furious, the last Fast and Furious which is so nuts that you just switch off. I mean, that’s what happens. What we used to do in the old days, like in the ’70s and ’80s, was there was no digital. So your action was much more realistic in terms of what you could achieve, everything else because that’s all you had”.

Campbell compared the two eras, specifically those from the ’70s and ’80s, and the most ultra-modern Fast and Furious franchise. The director emphasized the overuse of CGI in movies like Fast and Furious which he also called “Ludicrous” so much that it makes the movie unrealistic and unattractive. Campbell suggested that the importance of digital enhancement action scenes should not be made to an extent that might make fans disengage from the movie. This was the reason why the Edge of Darkness director did not find Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel‘s movie appealing to watch.

Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s feud had a negative impact on the Fast and Furious Franchise. According to Screen Rant, their conflict caused damage to the franchise and its reputation. Dwayne Johnson’s involvement from 2011 in the series has been well received by both critics and audiences. However, the feud between the two stars which began soon after Johnson’s introduction, didn’t work well for the franchise. On top of that the conflict was made public by Johnson as he posted a message on his Instagram in 2016.

However, the post was deleted by The Rock and he even regretted making the fight public and revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that it was a bad day for the Black Adam star as he went against his principles and expressed that the actor could have solved the feud privately instead of making it known to the entire world and shouldn’t have brought the franchise in controversy which could have severely harmed its success.
