Recently, the 38-year-old made a bold move by temporarily walking away from her role as a judge on the popular television show American Idol, even though it risked her substantial $25 million salary.

Katy Perry and fellow judge Lionel Richie will reportedly be temporarily replaced on American Idol by a big-time celebrity Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette will co-judge the show in their absence. While they attend King Charles’ coronation concert in May.

According to Luke Bryan, who has been a judge on the show since 2018, fans should expect some great replacements on the show. He said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“It’s big time. It’s big time. The people that we have filling in, contestants have used their songs many, many times. A lot more than mine.”  

While the singer and Richie are expected to perform at the much-anticipated concert on the grounds of Windsor Castle, Perry Discussed her invitation in the media.

“It was very regal, it was like a cursive I have never seen. I loved it. It was so beautiful and I was so grateful to get the honor because I am an ambassador for the British Asian Trust, which primarily focuses on ending child trafficking, which is a huge issue of our time and it just aligned with all my values.”

The songwriter is also an ambassador for one of the monarch’s charities, She is looking forward to attending the event as an ambassador and performer, she shared.

“I’m also an ambassador for Unicef. And as a mother I know first-hand that these innocent children need help, they need to be helped. So I’m just going there as an ambassador and they asked me to sing and it all aligned.”

Further, the artist said that she is so grateful to have been invited to sing at the upcoming event. 

Meanwhile, Perry’s partner, Orlando Bloom is excited for her to perform at the historic occasion and thinks it’s cool that she’s involved in the coronation concert.

The 46-year-old has expressed his excitement for his partner’s upcoming performance at the highly-anticipated King Charles’ coronation concert.

Bloom, who was at CinemaCon in Las Vegas promoting his new movie Gran Turismo, spoke to Entertainment Tonight and shared his thoughts on the event.  

“My girl’s gonna be singing, that’s fun. I’m not gonna make it there, sadly, but she’s representing which is cool.  She does those big, historical things. It’s wonderful. She sang for the president too. She does that.”

The actor even made a joke about the only notable person she hasn’t performed for yet, “Who’s left? Maybe the pope. So yeah, it’s exciting.”

The concert will take place on May 7, the day after King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation at Westminster Abbey.

The impressive lineup of performers includes Perry, Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli, Take That, Sir Bryn Terfel, Freya Ridings, and Alexis Ffrench. The Pirates of the Caribbean performer has previously shared how much of a fan he is of his wife and praised her work as a judge on American Idol.

“What she does is so empowering for young musicians with everything with Idol. Then she can go and put on a powerhouse show in Vegas. We support, it’s who we are. Katy’s a force and we both have these pools we swim in and we recognize each other’s pools and we go, ‘Hey, I’m over here. We’re doing this.’ And it’s great.”

The concert will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Sounds from the grounds of Windsor Castle. Fans worldwide can look forward to watching Perry’s grand performance at the coronation concert.
