Will Smith Reportedly Highest Paid Apple TV Actor With $35M Salary for Comeback Movie ‘Emancipation’ Despite Oscars Slap
Many of the actors, we love in movies are not only talented but also get paid handsomely. Consequently, due to the sizable paychecks they receive for their projects, some of them are among the highest-paid actors in the world.
One such is Will Smith, who has marked his mega return with the Apple TV+ movie, Emancipation, following the contentious Oscars incident. His infamous Oscars slap on Chris Rock last year made headlines, which made many fans and critics question whether the 54-year-old actor’s film career would ever be the same.
However, Emancipation reportedly got a lot of good reviews and could be what gets him back into Hollywood.
A slave’s life is followed in the movie, which reportedly paid the actor $35 million for his part. Let’s learn more.
Will Smith Is The Highest Paid Apple TV Actor
The Apple TV+ film, Emancipation starred Will Smith in the main role. The movie, which was based on a true story, is about a slave who travels to find his family. Moreover, it is about a slave who escapes from his plantation owners and joins the Union Army.
The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, who also worked on the Denzel Washington film, Training Day. Smith reportedly received $35 million for his exceptional work on Emancipation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is a little less than the $40 million, he reportedly made for his lead role in the 2021 movie, King Richard.
The publication also stated that Smith was generous with this King Richard’s salary.
According to reports, he made $20 million for the 2017 Netflix film, Bright and $35 million for its sequel. Smith’s estimated net worth, as of this writing, is $350 million.
Thus, with a fat salary of $35 million for his part in Emancipation, Will Smith is reportedly the highest earner at Apple TV+ (so far).

Emancipation is About ‘Faith’ and ‘Resilience’
Last year, the screening of Emancipation was held in October by Apple TV and the NAACP. Will Smith stated during the movie’s screening that the story is less about slavery and more about “resilience” and “freedom“.
In addition, the actor admitted that throughout his career, he has turned down a number of films with a slave-related plot.
“I never wanted to show us like that. And then this picture came along. And this is not a film about slavery. This is a film about freedom. This is a film about resilience. This is a film about faith.”
The actor probably holds a special place in this film, in light of the Oscar slap incident. At the 2022 Oscars, Smith entered the stage in the middle of the ceremony and shocked everyone by slapping Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
Smith later expressed his regret to Rock, his family, other Oscar winners, and other people while resigning from the Academy and delaying a few of his prominent projects.
His other top-grossing movies include Independence Day (1996), which earned $817 million at the global box office, Suicide Squad (2016), which brought in $745 million, and Men in Black 3 (2012), which made $654 million.
