While the former garnered much criticism due to his actions that heavily affected his endorsement deals, Don shared his opinion on why he thinks the rapper was not wrong all the time.
Dapper Dan’s Opinion on The Influence of Kanye West in The Fashion Industry
The 78-year-old fashion mogul, Dapper Dan shared his opinion on the controversial comments Kanye West delivered regarding the Jewish community, and even talked about his relevance in the fashion industry.
In a conversation with Women’s Wear Daily, he shared,
“I think there’s a lot of confusion with a lot of the information coming from Kanye.”
He continued,
“Now, some of the things he said I totally don’t agree with, but there’s glimpses of what he says that are true.”
Referring to his famous collaboration with GAP, he shared,
“One of the things that I don’t think people understand about Kanye is that with all of his money, he couldn’t launch a brand successfully.”
He praised the rapper for pointing out that the designers need to work a lot to make their brand successful. He noted how people have this perception that “we can go put it in the toaster and pop it out.”
Though he agreed that the rapper “couldn’t articulate it right,” he added, “There are certain messages that Kanye had that made sense, but there’s the other side to it.”
West, who is officially known as Ye, had a rough time last year due to his own actions.

The current beau of Bianca Censori made headlines when his controversial statements last year targeted the Jewish community. Despite the backlash, he kept on being steadfast in his views which led to a major loss for him.
According to Forbes, he even lost his billionaire status by ending up only with a $400 million fortune by the end of 2022. Following the series of anti-semitic meltdowns, he went low-key for a while and then made headlines for secretly marrying his Yeezy designer, Censori last month.
As per reports, Adidas, which is one of the brands that cut off ties with him has reached a new agreement to sell $500 million worth remaining YEEZY sneakers.
