We all are aware of Hugh Grant’s 1995 scandal when the 62-year-old actor was arrested, and the reason was nothing but embarrassing. Grant was arrested for a sexual act in a parked car with the s-x worker.
It was reported that Grant paid around $60 to one Divine Brown, and the news made international headlines in no time. While Elizabeth Hurley continued to suppress her feelings behind the veil of friendship, she opened up about her true feelings in 2021. During her appearance on the People in the 90s podcast, she opted for a poetic device to express what she actually felt.
She said, “There’s partners, there’s children. You can’t just, sort of, live in a lovely, rosy mist of the past. You have to move with the times and be very respectful of the present, which we are.” Hurley revealed that the ex-couple went through so much, but managed to remain good friends.
Well, the two may have managed to stay together for five years even after the scandal, the year 2000 served as the judgment day. She revealed on this podcast how “a lot of respect for their current life” and “awareness that we have different people in our life” kept their friendship alive. Interestingly, she even named Hugh Grant as her son Damian’s godfather.

Elizabeth Hurley was Huge Grant’s 90s love. The two managed to remain together for good 13 years despite several bumps. The British actor started seeing Hurley in 1987 and parted ways amicably in 2000. While the two managed to wither some real relationship turbulences, an embarrassing incident in 1995 when Grant was caught cheating on Hurley did turn things for real.
In 2015, Hugh Grant revealed in an interview with Andy Cohen, that the reason why the former couple’s relationship ended was that “the s-x bit probably fizzled out, but now she’s my absolute best friend—the number one person I call in a crisis.” The Runaways actress, on the other hand, had a slightly different take on things.
Elizabeth Hurley backed Hugh Grant in a previous interview and revealed that the two managed to remain besties, but the deal-breaker was that Grant was kind of a grump. She said, “He used to really annoy me, actually. I mean, I love him, but, um, he’s very annoying.”
She continued, “My friends used to call him Grumpelstiltskin. He is very grumpy,” she told Cohen. “But I found it actually fairly charming.” The 57-year-old actress went on to have a son, Damian, with Steve Bing before tying the knot and divorcing Arun Nayar.
