In a recent interview with Good Morning America, The Equalizer movie actor opens up about his work with the Boys & Girls Club which provides voluntary after-school programs for young people. The actor also recalls meeting the famous Canadian rapper Drake when he was a kid in Toronto.

Denzel Washington recalls meeting Drake for the first time he said,
“You just never know who you touch. I met a kid in Toronto who came up and was fascinated because I was like this star, and he wanted to talk to me, and he couldn’t believe that he met me.”
The actor continued,
“Well, 10 or 15 years later, he came up and he said, ‘You don’t remember when you met me.’ I said, ‘No.’ His name is Drake. And he said what I said to him, he never forgot.”
Reflecting on his time with the American non-profit organization Washington shared,
“I was that 6-year-old kid that was nervous. What am I now? I’m still that 6-year-old, wide-eyed kid who’s curious about life. I was being taught about grace, about winning with grace and losing with grace, and being a leader and all of these things.”
According to the site,
“Boys & Girls Clubs of America is a national, nonprofit organization which provides programs and services to promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by installing a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.”
Denzel Washington has served as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s national spokesperson for over two decades.

Drake Has Always Been Fond of Denzel Washington

In an earlier interview with The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Man on Fire star discussed Drake’s tattoo and said,
“I heard about this. Now you got me wondering: where is that? That’s crazy.”
