“You have got nothing to worry about”: Gal Gadot Reveals James Gunn’s Kind Words After Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck Leave DCU
When you think of Wonder Woman, it’s hard not to picture Gal Gadot, the amazing actress who has owned the role in DC Universe. She made her Wonder Woman debut in the 2016 film Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and she hasn’t stopped since. In the 2017 movie Wonder Woman, Gadot completely nailed the warrior vibes, and we got to witness her kick butt even harder.
Then, in Wonder Woman 1984, she took us on a crazy trip back in time to the 1980s. Gal Gadot also appeared in cameo roles as a superhero in movies like Shazam and The Flash. But when word of the cancellation of Wonder Woman 3 broke, her fans were heartbroken. Though, now the Israeli actress has provided a new update on her part in the DC Extended Universe.
Is Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 3 not canceled?
James Gunn made it known that he aims to expand the diversity and relevance of the DC Universe when he was appointed co-president of DC Films in 2022. This spurred discussion regarding how popular DC characters will fit into this new scenario. Ben Affleck’s retirement from the Batman role and Henry Cavill’s replacement were both revealed. News of the cancellation of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman also surfaced in December of last year. But there’s a piece of good news for all Gal Gadot fans.
It has been officially announced that Gal Gadot will reprise her role as Diana Prince in Wonder Woman 3 in the DC Extended Universe (DCU). Gadot has already offered more details about how she would continue to play the adored superhero since the announcement earlier this month.
Gadot’s portrayal of Diana Prince certainly stands out as a highlight aspect within the trilogy, despite Wonder Woman 1984’s conflicting reviews, which marked a change from the critical praise of the first Gadot-led movie, directed by Patty Jenkins. Gadot’s portrayal of the role has won a lot of praise ever since her memorable debut in Batman v Superman. Fans were alarmed by the news of a universe-wide revamp directed by David Zaslav and worried that Gadot may leave the part.
These worries have, thankfully, been laid to rest. Gal Gadot shared the kind words Gunn had said to her stating, “I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran,” in an interview with Flaunt, giving some insight into her conversations with them. They had told Gadot that “We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. We love you as Wonder Woman, you’ve got nothing to worry about.” And it appears that she will return as the superhero before Wonder Woman 3 as well.
Even before Wonder Woman 3, Gal Gadot will reprise her role as Wonder Woman
Speculation about the premiere of the third Wonder Woman movie in the future DC Universe has been fueled by the buzz that it is in production. Gal Gadot might return to her heroic character sooner than expected, however, we’re still awaiting all the details. Another exciting development is that James Gunn, the co-president of DC Films, has made a new addition to the DC Universe called Gods & Monsters.
This HBO Max series is all about diving deeply into the fascinating mythology of the Amazon. The television show may examine the circumstances surrounding Diana Prince’s birth. Still, it may also expertly tie these tales together to reveal the origins of the renowned Wonder Woman character.
