Scott Snyder’s revolutionary reinvention, Absolute Batman, is getting an animated adaptation, and fans are already hyped for the comic’s best moments to be realized on screen (via Deadline). The comic book series became DC’s prime jewel in recent times, becoming 2024’s best-selling comic (via Bleeding Cool) and getting nominated for multiple Eisner awards.
Now that it is getting an animated adaptation, there are some moments that fans wish would not be skipped. These are pure aura-farming moments from Absolute Batman, providing goosebumps to the reader. Batman has always been a badass character, but this reinvention makes him cooler, and we did not think that was even possible.
Here are 10 pure aura moments from Absolute Batman that must be adapted to the show.
1. Absolute Batman Fights the Party Animals

The Absolute Batman universe is slightly different from the usual continuity we are familiar with. Unlike the traditional Bruce Wayne, this Bruce is a working-class hero and is far more built and brutal. Gordon is the Mayor, and Black Mask does not like it, sending in his Party Animals to assassinate him. However, there is a small, Batman-shaped obstacle.
This is when we get our first appearance of Absolute Batman. At the same time, the Party Animals hold the Mayor hostage inside and form a perimeter outside. That’s where Batman first attacks. He closes the door of the town hall and warns the cop not to open it, no matter what. And then, he gets to work. This has to be his first appearance in the upcoming show.
The moment is amazing because it is our first glimpse at the new iteration, especially him in action. While there is the traditional inducing fear aspect, Absolute Batman is also terrifyingly brutal, and it sets the energy of the entire run.
2. The Joker Tease at the End of Issue #1

There is no Joker without Batman, and the ending of Issue #1 teases him in the best way possible. While we see the billionaire much later, he is described by his employees as a man who does not appreciate jokes. They say that’s why he is called the Joker. The moment is amazing, like a post-credit scene at the end of a movie.
Right before this scene, Alfred is told that his previous target, the Joker, trained with Henry Ducard and killed him after. It is an insane introduction to a character everyone knows, and sets up the stage for his appearance later. The Joker is who Bruce Wayne is in the main continuity, a rich man who traveled across the world, training with the League of Shadows.
The pilot episode’s final scene has to be this one. The sequence is brilliant, indicating a polar shift in how the Joker is perceived in this universe. It also puts Batman in a different power space, as Joker is now financially more powerful than him. It is a wild place to be.
3. Batman’s Few Words for Bane Before War

Bane and Batman’s battle in Absolute Batman has already been regarded as one of the most celebrated comic book moments of the past few years. Bane is not just stronger than ever; he has also experimented with Venom and is more powerful. He is also recruited by the Joker and sent to fight Batman.
After he mutilates his friends and breaks him, Batman is visited by Alfred, and before his final confrontation, he has just a few words for his adversary: ‘Let’s go to f*cking war!’. And war is what we get as the two behemoths have a battle that is legendary and will forever be remembered.
It is an incredible moment because we love to see these two clash. Bane is one of the few villains who can break Batman physically and a combat between them is almost always a level playing ground.
The moment where he utters those words has to be shown on screen, possibly as a closer for an episode before the final confrontation.
4. The Absolute Batmobile’s First Appearance

When everything else in the Absolute universe is amped up in all its maximalist glory, then the Batmobile should also be far cooler than any version we have seen before. And it is! Scott Snyder gives us our first glimpse of the Absolute Batmobile in all its glory in a sequence that is so cool. Alfred sees the Batmobile first and is equally mesmerized.
The Absolute Batmobile fits the working-class vibe of Bruce Wayne. It looks partly like a farm machine and partly a monster truck. But it has all its features intact and is an imposing vehicle that makes Batman’s image more fearful.
Other Batmobiles have the advantage of Bruce Wayne’s fortune. But, Absolute Batman made his out of stolen parts from his day job and is a far more imposing vehicle. The magnanity of it is what makes it so cool and the fact that it is a Frankenstein monster of a vehicle makes it cooler.
5. Harley Quinn is the Leader of the Red Hood

In Absolute Batman #13, Batman looks to recruit more members to help him defeat Bane. He encounters the Red Hood, a street gang. It is the kind of tense scene the series does well: Bruce being Bruce, too blunt for diplomacy, trying to leverage threats into alliances.
And then Scott Snyder ends the scene by hitting two birds with one stone, peeling back the gang leader’s identity to reveal the Absolute Universe’s Harley Quinn.
She is not the classic clown-punk-therapist hybrid, but something harder, rawer, and entirely unexpected: a punk-rock street lieutenant with just enough of the familiar iconography left to make the reveal land like a thunderclap.
As Harley Quinn began her journey in animated form in Batman: The Animated Series, it is only fitting that her reinvention also makes it into the upcoming series.
6. Batman’s Message to Gotham and Bane

Batman exposes Bane’s atrocities in the most public way. He uses Harley Quinn’s technology to gain access to all communication systems in Gotham and relays one clear message to Bane: that he is coming to wage war. It is an insane moment that is badass and a high point in the story.
While we do not know how many episodes the upcoming show has, the moment could either be a mid-point of one episode or the ending before their battle reaches the zenith. It is a moment that is epic and involves everyone in Gotham. It needs a grand execution.
7. Batman Tells Why He and Bane Are Similar in a Fight

The fight between Batman and Bane has always been legendary. In the iconic Knightfall comic, Bane breaks Batman’s back, and the imagery is comic book history. So, it is only natural that their fight in Absolute Batman is equally hyped up. And it works so well. Batman uses Bane’s Venom dependence against him and defeats him.
He has plenty of one-liners throughout the fight, with the final one being him explaining how he thinks both are similar. Batman says that they share one commonality: both their fathers are dead. However, he notes the difference between them, which is a final gut-punch to Bane. He says that he never broke his father’s back or his heart.
The sheer aura in this line is insane. Batman not only refers to their shared history but also to their own comic book history. Bane breaks Batman’s back in Knightfall, and that is an iconic moment that is called out here.
8. Batman Burns Black Mask’s Money and Creates a Bat Signal

Batman making a Bat-signal out of random things is always a dramatic moment. We saw it in The Dark Knight Rises, and it is one of the best moments of the trilogy. In Absolute Batman, he is called in by Black Mask and offered money to wreak havoc in Gotham. He offers Bruce $200 million. For a working-class Bruce Wayne, this money solves everything.
However, like Joker burning a mountain of money to send a message, the Dark Knight sends a message of his own to Black Mask and the Party Animals. He says that the deal is off and burns the $200 million cash, creating a Bat Signal out of it. As Jake Peralta says, ‘Chills! Literal Chills!’
9. Alfred Gets His First Dose of Absolute Batman

Alfred Pennyworth is one of the most interesting reinventions in Absolute Batman. It takes the butler’s past as a soldier and makes him an MI6 agent, entering Gotham on a mission to stop Black Mask and the Party Animals. However, he encounters Batman already on the task. He joins hands later, but their first confrontation is epic.
Alfred figures out who Batman is, and he goes to Bruce’s lair. However, he turns the gun on Alfred, steals his bike, and escapes into the night. It is an epic moment and a wonderful mid-point for the pilot episode.
What makes this epic is the first confrontation between Alfred and Bruce. Their team-up is taken for granted in the original universe, but the way the Absolute universe is structured, their team-up has to be earned. And, this act by Bruce is the set-up for that.
10. Batman Stabs Black Mask In the Eye

Batman is resourceful and uses whatever is in his grasp to attack his adversaries. In Absolute Batman, Bruce attacks Black Mask’s yacht, which has the Party Animals and the Concierge. After defeating everyone, he uses his cowl to stab Black Mask in the eye and blinds him. He then throws him off the yacht and blows it up.
It is an incredible action moment and is just one of the examples of how brutal the Absolute universe can really go. It shows that Batman is not really afraid to make things bloody and do what it takes to stop a threat.
If the show is really planning on going R-rated and staying true to its source material, then this moment has to be there.
