If there’s one thing which Jared Leto has been vocal about- it’s regarding the Joker movie and the new Birds of Prey movie. Why? Because his Joker was excluded from both *smallest violin plays in the background*. So perhaps seeing the new pic which David Ayer (director of the first suicide squad) has shared with fans will cheer Leto up with memories of a time when he was relevant to the DCEU.
Just to rub a little more salt in Jared Leto’s wound, lets check out if Phoenix’s Joker movie will get a sequel or not:
David Ayer Shares New Jared Leto Joker Pic From Suicide Squad
Recently, David Ayer shared the make-up test for Jared Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad. The 2016 movie was clearly an attempt by WB to set itself apart from its MCU counterparts by bringing on a villain-centric movie. In that movie, Joker did play a role but he was not very impactful (and he had really less screentime) than was originally thought. In his latest instagram post, the former Suicide Squad director revealed a really creepy image of Jared Leto’s Joker. Check out the photo below:
The image shows that the final version ended up being quite different from the one we see here. But the biggest change, as one can see is that instead of Joker’s tattoo saying “Damaged”, it originally said “Blessed.” It isn’t quite certain what the previous “Blessed” tattoo was meant to signify, but one thing is certain, both the Joker tattoos are cringeworthy.
Suicide Squad was a critical failure but it was a box office hit. It earned $746.8 million globally against a budget of just $175 million. As such, it was a financial success. So, Warner Bros quickly green lighted a sequel and multiple spin-offs. Among these now defunct spin-offs one was a film with Harley Quinn and Joker. But that doesn’t seem like a possibility now since the entire management overlooking DCEU was changed after the failure of Justice League. So Harley is now spearheading Birds of Prey and living quite happily it seems without her toxic beau (in the animated show as well).
